Interesting, bordering on +SN right now with big fatties falling. So far, all precip has been frozen. A few tenths of sleet/FZRA/snow combo this morning and now just plain snow, it's even accumulating on the north side of the house. The paved southern exposure, not so much, but it's a degree above freezing IMBY so that's pretty good considering.

Same at DTW and MBY today...we had 0.8" of snow with the burst this afternoon on top of this mornings snocone 0.1" (which was really mostly sleet topped with freezing rain) so 0.9" on the day. Snow depth on average is 3" (there are plenty of 4"+ spots, but also a few spots that had thinned to 1" and even isolated bare patches in the usual spots before todays snow). Most of the area had around an inch give or take a few tenths it would appear. I was shocked when shoveling the snow the driveway was still the skating rink it was this morning despite temps rising to 35F, this must owe to how cold the ground is.

Above all...this bit of fresh snow does WONDERS for freshening up the old snowpack!

my car this morning = snocone

between the clipper and a few hours of real nice lake effect, have had an estimated 4-5" since around 3 am. wind gust 35-45 mph have really made it a wintry night with low visibility and below zero wind chills. hard to believe there's no adv or even sps for Marquette county but that's life in the UP.

When I was at Tech there was one night the LES kicked in around 9 PM with visibility <1 mile all night with over a foot of new snow by morning. No advisory or anything ... forecast was chance of flurries because it was bitter cold and they had that too cold for snow mentality but would not back down thinking it would end soon. Yeah after more than a foot ...

Life in da UP ahey!!!!
