real
Wrong thread, but yikes if NYC ends up with less than a foot of snow out of this. Upton and the other mets should have just went with a forecast of 10 to 20 inches and went up from there, as storm formed and radar obs became clear Unless it's a Miller A staring you straight in the face, East Coast Mets really should use more caution when throwing out totals for Miller B's that haven't even formed yet. I sort of see why Upton was so aggressive. Don't forget it was only 2 or 3 years ago that stranded motorists almost froze to death on the Long Island Expressway, and the same year NYC was paralyzed after hundreds of cars and buses became stuck on streets when Bloomberg forget to dispatch enough plows. But a better forecasting formula may be like what mets did in Baltimore/DC for PD11 in 2003. I recall initial forecasts for that storm were 8 to 12 up until the first flakes fell. They then kept adjusting upward once it was clear there really was going to be a storm. But guess that approach is far harder now that the general public also has access to each model run, etc.
mikes923
I've been under this band for a while now. I don't believe I have ever seen such a narrow continuous band over Howard County like this before. Just unreal. Up to 3.5" over an hour ago, but it's been snowy steadily since then. Should get to at least 4" or maybe even 5" by the looks of radar. Quite a bumpy ride over the last week with this storm, but satisfying in the end. . MDstorm Thats awesome, great to hear. I've been hoping it shifts a bit to the east for myself Ive got about 1.75 maybe 2" here, what a difference 10-20 miles makes
Jebman
It appears that energy keeps diving down from the north and this energy keeps interacting with the New England storm and that north/south band keeps on hitting us with snow.

Jebman
If these snows continue to intensify they could have a major effect on rush hour this morning Fredericksburg should be getting in on some of this snow It is as though a streamer is coming out of the mountains to my northwest and it is streaming snow right down to me. This is really entertaining
