Bob Chill
What might be the duration? I don't have a clue. It's a weird night. Just enjoy the view and hope for the best. I would guess that snow is in the area through midnight at least but I really have no idea

cae
My part of balt not really seeing anything of note. Same here. HRRR says we're just about done. A few hours ago it said we were getting another 4+ inches, but this time I'm more inclined to believe it. I'm a hair shy of an inch now, and I think I'll probably have about an inch at the end. ers-wxman1
Good steady light snow in Ashburn. 27F. Travel getting a bit dicey. Approaching 1". Good to see that Norlun trough feature working out. The 06z GFS actually pegged this solution last night. Based our forecast more toward that for the evening commute into the overnight. peribonca
I was worried an hour ago when things started falling apart to our North East but now it looks like that projected band along the Potomac (from Moco to La Plata) is starting to form and will last for 3-4 hours according to the RAP. WEATHER53
2":, light to occasionally moderate snow, 1/2"ph rate. 28*. Cautioned last night and today that there was no predictability with this system including "we're screwed" and bands continue to rotate westward from eastern shore. mitchnick
one thing that may explain busts up north (if they happen) is that the storm just took off to the NE too fast (fast flow of the winter at work?) I say it because look at the pressure map and then the 3-hr pressure change map all the deep pressure changes are to the NE of the slp and have been like that since mid afternoon http://weather.unisys.com/surface/sfc_con.php?image=pr&inv=0&t=cur http://weather.unisys.com/surface/sfc_con.php?image=3p&inv=0&t=cur of course, they may not bust, but if the Euro is right, NYC and BOS need around .40" qpf between now and 1AM and surface reports from the past hour are mostly .02" or less/hr. Bob Chill
Flake size increasing here again. Pretty decent actually. Pretty good stuff right now. That stationary band over Emmitsburg through Mt Airy is interesting. It's pivoting and you can see it trying to draw a line all the way to BWI. SW of that is filling in nicely. MN Transplant
NAM has some flakes hanging on well into the night. No 40" for NYC on this run.
mitchnick
NAM just saved the weenies in NYC, at least thru 7AM lol

Just wish the precip wasnt so showery in nature. If I can get this for a couple hrs id be content with this system.

das
Dynamic portion of the storm this evening. Pretty cool. 22.5F in Clarksburg on stiff NNW winds of 8mph. 1.0" have fallen here since 5pm to go with the 0.8" from the first part of the day/storm. Heavy but small band just tot he north, should be here in a few minutes...
SomeguyfromTakomaPark
WOW this could be an epic bust for NYC, newest NAM drops like 0.5....down from 3 inches during it's last run. I think EURO stands alone now showing 18 inches for NY. Whoever earlier was saying 8-12 for NYC might be right.
WxUSAF
Finally some decent rippage here from that band moving down over E HoCo. I wouldn't say rippage, but it is snowing again. Would be nice to sustain decent rates for a couple hours, but that probably won't happen.
