pazzo83
A wall of white just literally engulfed the buildings I look east across at from the 18th floor. So cool. Ripping now. Looks like thick smoke. Do you look into like downtown Bkln/LIC or into the city from NJ?

SnowGoose69
LOL at the JFK observer, no way its -SN there right now, just not bothering to put the SPECI out since there are no Ops this time of night and probably not tonight at all.
cjr231
Do you look into like downtown Bkln/LIC or into the city from NJ? I'm on 10th ave. my view is straight east. Basically all of midtown. With no buildings obstructing on 8th or 9th ave I can see straight into Times Square and surrounding buildings basically.
Drz1111
The band has arrive on the the UES of Manhattan and it's over performing compared to radar. S+, with a big increase in winds. Very nice stuff. A few hours of this and we'll be in business.
jm1220
Wow is that band crawling west now. Should hopefully make it across the GW Bridge but I don't see much beyond that.
SnoSki14
Moderate wind blown snow. I might be able to salvage a few inches in eastern Middlesex County and call it a day thanks to the pivot.
Rtd208
Light to moderate snow falling here in Woodbridge Township (Fords section), estimated accumulation 3.5"-4.0" temperature 23 degrees.

FreeRain
Looks like a dry slot is starting to form south thru Bridgeport and out to the Sound perhaps creating two separate bands. Also echos seem to be pivoting west thru NENJ in the north and possibly east away from the NJ Shore in the South.

RU848789
I'm in Metuchen (basically the east side of Edison) about 8 miles west of the center of Staten Island and I just can't tell if the heavy bands are going to make it here. Have some light snow now, but that ain't cuttin' it. Got 4" in round 1 and maybe 1/2" over the last two hours of light snow. Someone please tell me the heavy stuff reaches to at least Edison (I'd be happy if it went way west of Edison, too, but if it doesn't make it even here I'll be pretty disappointed). IntenseBlizzard2014
The SLP is hooking towards the coast. The GFS didn't even have that. That doesn't mean that outrageous totals will happen west of NYC. It just means that the snowfall from the GFS is likely to bust hard for the immediate Metropolitan Area. anemone
The bad news is that the band didn't quite make it to Manhattan before fizzling. The good news is that we're now inside a wide swath of 1"/hour snow, and deformation bands are picking up in frequency and intensity moving west over LI. I cannot tell if thats what that is, sometimes we can get that feature as a result of NNE winds down the CT Rivery Valley, it may be temporary. Short range models kinda have that dropoff in snow amounts in W CT, maybe they see that dry patch there.
