Climate report snow depths are from 7 AM

So there you have it...I've been reading them for years...and never even noticed...you learn something new every day.

Well...it made for a couple laughs at least...at least I laughed.

If I was home right now I'd probably be screaming at the radar which has the crazy banding just north of the Southern State and not moving.

I'd say 90% of what's in the air over Port Jeff is blowing snow...though with the darkness and very windy conditions...a little difficult to estimate.

Similar in RP unsurprisingly.  Watching the band to the east with interest. The long time series radar loops on COD show an accelerated WNW precip push in the later frames, related to that obvious band showing on the standard OKX radar depiction. Can't see timestamps so I don't know if that's real or just skipped frames.

Edit: To clarify - the COD radar I'm watching is the OKX 0.5 deg, which i think what I'm looking at on the OKX page - the base reflectivity.  Much different presentations tho.  I'm unschooled in the details of how they display.

OKX had radar scans once per 10 mins from 22:23 to 23:13, and it was scans once every 3 mins, before that and after that. So you may seen some weird motion.

I'm going to take a 12 hour measurement at 7 PM...snow started this morning around 7 AM...really not very much accumulation so far...I would guess no more than 3 inches or so as I type...but I'll check for real in half an hour.

Nothing out of the ordinary with these storms...Boston...in '78...some flurries and light snow moved in the early morning hours that Tuesday...but snow didn't really start to come down until after sunset...and I mentioned the synoptic similarities between that event & today's.
