Anytime the depth of atmosphere between the 850 and 700mb levels attempts and/or succeeds in closing off SE of a given region, rule number 1 ... you look at warming with a "degree" (nyuk nyuk) of incredulity.

I was giggling when I saw rain fears N of PVD... that said.  I am actually surprised a little that the transition axis penetrated as far as it did.

Be that as it may ... up here in the interior/NE Mass we got a beautiful low impact gorgeous, classic looking New England snowfall.  Wouldn't even call it "storm" in the sense/spirit of what storming means.  It's just low wind, 31F uniform aggregate snow at about .5 visibility ...at times a little less.   I measured 3.5" 45 minutes ago, and we're in a bit of heavier burst now.

Back edge races through CT though, and it gradually wanes to a  drizzle/snizzle festering afternoon it would appear...

Thanks for the explanation, John.  I wasn't looking at any meso data this morning so wasn't sure 850 and 700 were beginning to close off.  I know when I made my forecast for CT yesterday (went 1-3'' SE part of the state with 2-4'' elsewhere except NW/NE Hills where I went 3-5'') much of the models seemed to really push the warm air through here, both at the surface and aloft but that didn't really happen.

This will be a 25th reunion year so I'll get up there. When I was there the apartments on the back end of campus were brand new!

No science center then either. They have really turned that college into something good. We used to have keg parties on the soccer field. Lol. That probably doesn't happen anymore.

 cops here still let a surprising amount of stuff go but no keg parties on the soccer field yet for us hahaha

4.75" here. Ripping pretty good. Had to go with my son and his troop to a scout derby over in Leominster near the Princeton line. Roads were a complete disaster. Some of the cars in our caravan had trouble on the hills on the back roads. AWD ftw

Pretty, pretty storm. So far it is ahead of my 4" call and still coming down. Maybe another inch or 2 to go

Wow, didn't think you would be that high. You may triple our totals in Franklin Co.

MPM will be in fine form in the Tuesday thread after Eeyoring us into under performing out here. Lol.
