This storm would have been a really good setup for snow in Washington. However - this is the result when you lack blocking and a decent source of cold air to the north - we get initial frozen that rapidly transitions to liquid.

Sleet and some light rain, 35 degrees. Wet roads and sidewalks. Rain gauge is all set. So is my trusty rain ruler. The snow ruler has been removed. Jebman shovel is back in the garage in storage, dont need it in a rainstorm.

moderate snow on 66 at Manassas

Lucky you :) You got at least 330 feet of elevation there. Man I wish I was in Paeonian Springs right now, they have got at least 500 feet in elevation with nearby ridgetops to 1250 feet near Hillsdale. I have actually been there, they had some patchy 1 inch deep snow last weekend, especially on the ridgetops. Those folks will get annihilated with massive, massive snow and sleet. Gonna be a winter wonderland out there come late tonight. Its no surprise that some places to the west are already under winter storm warnings.
