SnowGoose69
The 18Z RGEM looks just like the NAM for coastal NJ, it continues to swing an area through NYC and LI 00-03Z..the GFS is out to lunch on this, even the Euro resembles the NAM and RGEM with light amounts further north. SnowGoose69
This comes NE . A little further west and its interesting for sure . The coastal likely won't, what we'll need is the band of snow from the shortwave to get some frontogenetical help and also last a bit longer as it lifts north.. Fields27
I'm confused..what's this moving thru right now? I thought the clipper was moving in tomorrow.. The batch moving through was modeled to lose it's punch going over the apps in PA but it just held together better than modeled. The clipper for tomorrow is just getting it's "act" together over MN right now.

SnoSki14
Nam looks good for 1-3" around here. I think SNJ could see a good 4-5" from this.

SnoSki14
I guess now that there's bigger fish to fry this clipper becomes nonexistent even despite the fact that it's the most likely system to drop snow. It could also give us more snow than any other system we've seen this season.
donsutherland1
.. Interesting map, though I suspect it's a little far north. NYC and nearby suburbs to the south will probably be in the 1"-3" range. Southern NJ might have a small area of 3"-6". Philly and Baltimore will probably wind up with 2"-4". SnowGoose69
This is going to be a close call, if the models are even 30-50 miles off on placement of the lift and snow band this could still bust heavy on the high side near NYC

poleshiftnow
Don't look now but 6z nam is all amped up for first storm! http://mag.ncep.noaa.gov/Image.php?fhr=024ℑ=data%2Fnam%2F06%2Fnam_namer_024_precip_p24.gif&model=nam&area=namer¶m=precip_p24&group=Model+Guidance&preselected_formatted_cycle_date=20150121+06+UTC&imageSize=M&ps=area
Zelocita Weather
Both the nam and gfs got more robust with today's storm...looks like a solid 1-2" for the metro, outside of far northern areas...
