Winter 14/15 Banter & Complaint Thread Part 2

Powerball

Recommended Posts

Punting today is silly. If you're punting this storm, then don't continue to post about it. I agree with dmc that zzz, punt, lol, and dab really add nothing to the conversation and should be kept in Banter. My fav's for analysis are Buckeye, Powerball, OHweather, yourself, Chicago Storm (when he's invested) Alek (when he's being serious), Whitelakeroy... and some GREAT mets we didn't use to have.

I mosty do obs and pics because I really don't get into dissecting models, in a storm thread, it's about analysis and forecasting.

edit: and Hoosier is damn good too!

great post, exactly my thoughts

This is got one of those long drawnout winters written all over it just a gut feeling.

You and me can be content because there is snowcover with the cold at least, despite the boring weather. For everyone else about the best advice I can give is there should at least be more sunshine in a cold pattern than in a seasonable/mild pattern in the coming weeks.

I'm not giving up hope on seeing a storm. We still have a few months to go to see a storm. This pattern doesn't look like it's going away anytime soon, too suppressed and progressive. So it may be awhile before we see respectable snowfall, if any.

April can't get here soon enough though. It's not even February yet, and I want severe weather.

Meh, we have snow cover as well, a couple inches at least.   Doesn't seem to bring contentment or ease disappointment..

Dont think you got what I was saying. I wasnt saying others didnt have snow, I was saying dmc & I (and whitelakeroy for that matter) at least enjoy that it looks like winter. For the others who do not care for such things and wish for spring (which is not happening anytime soon), they can take solace in the fact that often times cold patterns bring about more sunny days than more milder patterns (the anti-cold, anti-snowcover crowd are also usually the anti-gray crowd).

Okay I know nothing is set in stone and the latest GFS is stuck in my head but this is starting to feel like 95/96 winter. :(

Yea then they end up like today.

I shudder at the thought, although IMO 95-96 was WAY worse. We were getting missed storm after storm after storm the entire winter until March 20th. There was record snow, or at least well above normal snow, all around us in every direction while Chicago to Detroit were an epic screw zone. This winter hasnt been so bad. We have had many clippers, and they would manage to circle every which way around us in '96 (we got a few then, but even those were mostly scraps of much nicer clippers to our north or south). Nobody is getting anything noteworthy this year (until the east coast blizzard the other day).

Oh trust me I remember how bad it was and this winter is no repeat ... that is why I said "starting to feel like" with the start of the Boston Blizzard and now that Feb 2 looks like it will to our south.  Plus you forgot there was the Nov. storm for MN/Northern WI and the UP.

I hear you there. Everyone's saying we've had decent clippers... And while this does apply to my back yard, the general area within 50 miles IMBY have had nothing noteworthy since November. Each clipper has scuffed by just to the south or north. we had an inch two weeks ago and half of an inch today. Just a bummer of winter thus far.

Hopefully it'll change soon. As for this weekend, I'm just glad SOMEONE (I-70 to I-80) is going to get a decent event finally, instead of nickel & dime - clippers
