H2Otown_WX
12" at 11pm est here in harwich, MA going with a conservative approach. Wouldn't be surprised if totals were updated to 13" or 13.5" I have on my frontyard patio. Wow, that's impressive. Maybe this winter is going to be another '04-'05 Cape Cod special? CCWeather
I'll call it 11" for my total, though it may have been a bit more. Totals were low until that heavy band backed in and I got about 6 inches in 2-3 hours.

Turtle
Silly question, but for NWS, what is the difference between a COCORAHS and a trained spotter? I'm not fully involved with the CoCoRAHS recruitment in SNE, so I'm not sure. I believe the way it works goes like this: 1.) Trained Spotter: trained by NWS to measure rain and snow. 2.) CoCoRAHS: possibly trained by NWS, but online training on how to measure rain and snow is available on the CoCoRAHS website. AFAIK, no way to verify that the CoCoRAHS observer has taken this online training. Sound right to you, JoeD??? IMHO, a big problem with using CoCoRAHS and trained spotter on the reports is the possibility of duplicate efforts. Not sure if he CoCoRAHS observer also has been trained by NWS, which means they also have an NWS spotter number. Could create lots of confusion. I'm pretty sure that our office weeds these out (seeing the same measurement at the same location on both CoCoRAHS and trained observer data). Also, not sure how this works in other NWS County Warning Areas. Just my 2 cents. --Turtle
