kas80
All freezing rain here. Nice icy glaze forming on all surfaces. Pretty confused because our hourly breakdown forecast keeps extending the event. First it ended at 7pm, then 1am, and now it saying not until 7am tomorrow. Not sure where they think all that precip is coming from...
SOMDweather
Pretty iced over here in Hollywood. Every surface appears to have a significant amount of ice except for pavement. Not sure what the roads are like except for earlier this morning when sleet/rain started wife said 235 was a skating rink. Roads were not pre-treated surprisingly. Event has definitely exceeded expectations around here. Do we have one last hurrah this week?
kas80
I have not ventured out but the so md news outlets are reporting slick roads and a lot of spin outs in calvert, Charles and St Mary's.
PrinceFrederickWx
Driveway and sidewalk (concrete) are frozen, but roads in my neighborhood (asphalt) look mostly ok. I'm not going out to drive though. Ice is starting to build up on some of my trees and bushes. Temp is 32.
Prestige Worldwide
If we get any accumulating snow on Thursday I will be extremely satisfied. We are playing with house money now.

AlexD
It'll be a nasty wet snow....friend showed me a metogram for SBY from 12z GFS run.... ~1" rain, ~.20" sleet, and ~1" liquid equivalent snow on top of that..... #slushfest

snowdude
This system is quite interesting and kind of rare. It's essentially a cold front. It will all depend on the timing of the cold air. If it can get through here in time we could see a significant snowstorm. I like the GFS lately with predicting snows and it gives most of us at least 4 inches, not the 12z GFS, I think that's too snowy. I think the NAM is too far north and so is the GGEM. We will see how things pan out on the 00z runs. Hopefully nothing trends toward the NAM.

PrinceFrederickWx
Have to agree with others on here that I'm wary of a situation where we have to thread the needle and time cold air in early March- keep thinking about the 3/6/01 and 3/6/13 busts, although this is a completely different setup from either one of those. But I don't just dismiss stuff automatically like some do just because its March. It does snow in March: 2009, 2013 and 2014 had March as my snowiest months for those winters. But I wouldn't bet on much at this point:
snowdude
Right now I think the chances for at least 2 inches of snow and sleet for areas north of a line from Richmond to Wallops Island is about 60% with at least 4 inches at 30%. Chances are improving.

AvantHiatus
I'm feeling a historic sleet-storm for my backyard on south. Perhaps a thick glacier topped with 6 inches of wet snow. I also expect insane rates.

PrinceFrederickWx
Early forecast round-up for us: TWC: 3-5" for most of us, but nothern half of Charles, Calvert and Dorchester (and all of DE) crossing the line to 5-8" LWX: 4-6" for all of southern MD Ellinwood: Mostly 4-8", with lower St. Mary's (around NHK) and anything south of Salisbury in 2-4"

SOMDweather
Seems the region of this sub-forum is the wild card in accumulations. All depends on how quick the cold air gets in and how much moisture is left when that happens. St. Mary's was left out of the warning area for now but hopefully that will change by this afternoon.
