Thunderhead
Jeff Verszyla probably too busy doing his Super Bowl polls. Good guy, but not interested in the weather. I think you see him in sports soon. He made a valid point on Twitter this afternoon: "I think there are still several solutions...the energy has not even come onshore yet...haste makes waste" Think back to early March 2014...big snowstorm was forecast 2 days out, and it busted. IIRC, the ECMWF ensembles were still showing a ton of spread when all 3 stations went big for the Friday evening news (7-11"+). I like that Verszyla doesn't hype regularly. If PIT was actually under say a blizzard warning, I imagine then he would hype. But hyping this far out for a potential moderate event wouldn't be worth it, imho. Burghblizz
Yeah - but in Feb '10 we had a foot on the ground at 11:00 and the 0z GFS had 15" additional (so maybe 10" more if u backdated to 7:00 PM). Jeff V was calling for 12-14" total at that point. This was after he had taken away Bowmans 8-12" on the morning news and replaced it with 6-9" at 5 PM. Result was 22" The storm the next week we squeezed out about 9" in what i think was a retrograding Miller B. He called for no more snow and "breezy" conditions when we were at 5". I dont hate on mets - just giving objective facts. Denardo didnt hype - but when it was on it was on. Havent seen Jeff V ever do that

Agree, the Euro may actually be a tad to far north for our friends around the m/d line and i-70. Bit concerned seeing the GEFS look that far north too. Hopefully the north trend is over for the most part now.
