It is not freezing on Many surfaces besides roads

Curious as to why Scott?

Only thing frozen was railing. Not side walks ,car tops (parked for hrs) nada 28-29f

That little burst of tiny flakes whitened the roads a bit. Freezing rain has a real hard time at freezing in roads during the day with little wind at 29F. The act of freezing alone promotes heat released too.

At 29F, it could be tough to freeze in the height of the day insolation. We even had that problem to some extent in ORH during the first part of the December 2008 ice storm. It was like 30F midday and not much was icing over despite light rates except like powerlines and elevated limbs. Then the sun started to set 330-4pm and it turned into a skating rink and the rest is history...the rain turned heavy but we froze anyway at 30-31F.

It's probably a lot easier sub 26F or 27F during midday.

i also wonder - in a situation like this where the nuclei is actually salt particles right off the ocean...if that hurts at all? is it possible it actually lowers the freezing temp even a tiny bit more?

regardless, there's also tons of salt and salt dust all over the place from the last few days.
