It's easy to get qpf around these parts when it's rain.

Tell me about it. During the clipper I was begging for a speck of green, when I had a fighting chance for snow. Now I get to enjoy rain, and heavy greens got my name all over it. I'll get banding too, for hours and hours lol

33.6/17 here. Both Temp and dew point have increased. Gymengineer will be glad to know that the very light rain falling here is freezing on contact to surfaces close to the ground.

Lol..I was just giving observations from previous seasons. The NWS clearly accounted for it in their advisory. 32F Blue line tonight doesn't matter that much until precip rates get higher.

Yes, I saw that in their statement, but you  also called it correctly...and I have anecdotal observations from the past and now that support that outcome.

Little sleet to start back at about 7:50 PM. Sleet and rain mixed until about 40 minutes ago. Now rain. Temp has been bouncing between 32 and 31. Currently 31.5* officially. Cars and deck are iced up but sidewalk is just wet. Full sun earlier today helped the driveway and sidewalk. 7500 Christmas lights down, 14500 to go! Just need some melting again and some drying winds.

AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION

NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE BALTIMORE MD/WASHINGTON DC

849 PM EST SUN JAN 11 2015

MAIN CONCERN THIS EVENING IS THE COVERAGE OF PRECIPIATION ON

RADAR AND TEMPERATURES/DEWPTS. HI RES AND DETERMINISTIC MODELS

CONTINUE TO SHOW PRECIPITATION STAYING LIGHT THROUGH MOST OF

TONIGHT AND NOT INTENSIFYING UNTIL THE EARLY MORNING HRS WHEN

MOISTURE ADVECTION FROM THE GULF REALLY INTENSIFIES ACROSS THE SE

US. THE COVERAGE IS EXPECTED TO BE SCATTERED AS SATURATION

CONTINUES TONIGHT AND FILL IN OVERNIGHT. FZRA CONTINUES AS THE

PRECIP TYPE THROUGH THIS EVENT ALTHOUGH SOME SLEET COULD MIX IN AT

ONSET TONIGHT. DEWPTS WILL CONTINUE TO RISE OVERNIGHT. THE LAMP

AND HRRR HAVE DEWPTS SLOWLY RISING COMPARED TO THE MOS AND NAM GUIDANCE

WHICH COULD RESULT IN A PROLONGED PERIOD OF WETBULBING INTO MONDAY

MORNING AND THEREFORE TEMPS COULD POTENTIALLY DROP LOWER. UPDATED

DEWPTS AND TEMPS WITH THIS TREND WITH ICE ACCUMULATION STAYING

LESS THAN A TENTH OF AN INCH FOR MOST AREAS. LOCATIONS NEAR THE

MASON DIXON LINE COULD SEE ISOLATED AMTS BETWEEN A TENTH AND TWO

TENTHS. A BRIEF LOOK AT MD ROAD TEMPS AND THEY HAVE DROPPED INTO

THE LOW 30S THIS EVENING. THE GROUND IS COLD IF NOT FROZEN FROM

PREVIOUS DAYS. UNTREATED SURFACES WILL BE ICY. USE CAUTION WHILE

TRAVELING TONIGHT AND MONDAY.

LOL, the ground is cold IF NOT FROZEN??? Somebody actually thinks there's ground not frozen? I had to replace my mailbox post Thursday after the plow snapped it in half and I was easily over a foot deep digging the hole before I hit ground that wasn't frozen.
