iu2001grad
It's really only me and my pessimistic LAF view. Pay no attention to MBY bias. I'm an idiot. It is a rather complex system though. Tough on people who do it for a living. Still, plan on some kind of wintry cocktail later today. Might not be pretty for awhile tonight. Lol- I didn't want to call you out in particular. Powerball
16z RUC was a nice run, especially here (widespread 0.25"+ QPF)... Currently 30*F at DTW and 31*F at DET now. Things are also starting to drip with wet roads (the snowpack itself has just compacted a bit).
smoof
Up to 31° here with quite a bit of sun. Roads are now pretty clean. At least the salt can finally melt stuff with these temps, I've been driving in half melted slush for days now since it was too cold for the salt to work good. RCNYILWX
The 17z HRRR is pretty far north with the secondary band that develops over the Chicago area along the 700 mb frontogenesis axis. Geos would get in on the action. We'll see how it plays out. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk

smoof
just had some light grapple (sp??) come thru. Another hot mess pathetic excuse for a 'winterstorm', in this ongoing pathetic winter of '14-'15. Graupel (German pronunciation: [ˈɡʁaʊpɛl]; English /ˈɡraʊpəl/, also called soft hail or snow pellets)[1] is precipitation that forms when supercooled droplets of water are collected and freeze on a falling snowflake, forming a 2–5 mm (0.079–0.197 in) ball of rime. The term graupel comes from the German language. Graupel is distinct from hail, small hail and ice pellets: the World Meteorological Organization defines small hail as snow pellets encapsulated by ice, a precipitation halfway between graupel and hail.[2] The METAR code for graupel is GS. snow pellets sure beat s***t, only see them imby a couple times a year
