Damage In Tolland
And there is snow there too. Seems a little weird. I wonder what Ryan got to.0.
ORH_wxman
If Ryan only got to 0.7 then the BDL reading sounds legit.
CoastalWx
Hmm. Well anyways this is BDL over the last year. Link: http://weather.gladstonefamily.net/site/KBDL
Damage In Tolland
BDL seems off to me based on the lows just to their east and west. My guess is they hit -
ORH_wxman
Hmmm. Yeah MADIS says it is still off. It looks like perhaps it has closed the gap a little bit but clearly the divergence that occurred last spring has not been recovered.
HimoorWx
I think my thermo is running a degree or two cold in this event based on other PWS nearby, but seems like -2 a good bet based on car thermos. I was down to -3 when I left Randolph a little before 6:30. Wouldn't be surprised if I dropped another degree or two after that. So, I think your thermo is pretty close. wxmanmitch
-10.7° F here this morning, so we cracked the double digit negatives. We haven't done that in about 2 years, even though we had a lot of subzero nights last winter.
Ginx snewx
Fun removing this tree this morning at work. 46 mph gust last night
Brewbeer
Somethings wrong, that shouldn't happen even in the coldest days . Did you get it tuned this year? Could also be dust build-up in the baseboards reducing airflow through the fins.
MainePhotog
Still below zero at 10 am. Temp -3.0°F Dew -18.0°F.

Cold Miser
we do the plastic seals on some of the windows 71 toasty degrees when I woke up. also check CLP free energy audit , they will seal cracks and insulate pipes for free and for 75 bucks do a bunch of other stuff. lol. There's no way they would spend hours in my house insulating pipes and sealing cracks around my old-azz house and around 20 plus windows. CLP - lol. Brewbeer
That is possible. I can see they are dusty The front panels pop off pretty easy, remove the end caps first. They really should be cleaned/vacuumed every year (and blown out with compressed air if you can), it will help a lot.
CoastalWx
Went for a nice arctic jog. Felt like Rocky IV out there.
HoarfrostHubb
Half of my homeroom was absent today, despite a delayed opening Car thermo read -1F when I came up the school driveway, so it wasn't too bad. I bet we had 40% of the kids out of school today
SouthCoastMA
Went for a nice arctic jog. Felt like Rocky IV out there. Did you climb to the top of Blue Hill and yell for Drago? I feel like we had colder mornings last winter.
CoastalWx
Did you climb to the top of Blue Hill and yell for Drago? I feel like we had colder mornings last winter. Almost..lol. I hit -7 when we radiated after the big Jan 2-3 snow event last year, but this definitely had more bite.
powderfreak
Balmy out at -9F now in town...off a low of -21F. -SN continues with 1.75sm visibility. The arctic light snow machine continues.
RUNNAWAYICEBERG
I dunno, it doesn't feel that bad out. It's sunny with calm winds so that certainly helps...but I'm not impressed. Last winter deff had some colder outbreaks.

Last winter deff had some colder outbreaks. Not really though..we just had frequent ones followed by cutters 3 days later..lol. Arguably the more impressive one last year I suppose was Jan 2-3. BOS was snowing at 2F. This one only will last like 24 hrs if that.
Tropopause_Fold
hit 4F IMBY...was 1F at HYA and 0F at FMH. that's pretty cold stuff considering the wind was still howling. those spots can tick below on radiating nights (was -5F at HYA beginning of Jan last year but that was with 15" of fresh powder and no wind)

I just didn't have the same feeling going to my car this morning...I wasn't shaking like a scared dog. It wasn't that bad out and my car started normally. Last year there were times I had to pull my balls out of my stomach, today...they were right where they should be. Maybe it was windier during last year's cold snaps? That certainly makes a difference.
powderfreak
Last winter did have several of these snaps...heck even in March we had lows approaching -20F. This is still pretty darn cold up here as I've got -6F on my car driving around town doing errands at midday. But we also had the core of the cold shot move overhead here...and the persistent arctic light snow over the past 24hours has given it that damp cold feel. If the sun was out it would probably not feel as bad.

WinterWolf
When I drove to work this morning it was -1 at 7:50am...The wind was blowing here and it was pretty brutal. Just went out at lunch, and it's 15 and breezy, and it was dam COLD. Every one has their own opinion on how it feels, and that's only natural. If you happen to be out when it was below zero, and happened to be in the wind as I was, it was pretty darn Cold...imo.
ORH_wxman
ORH beat last winter's coldest temp by 3F. This airmass was more impressive than anything last year. The radiators though were not the prime spot for cold in this one.
