Beautiful shots, Don.

Today's heavy snow can be explained by the beautiful 130 to 170 knot jet streak in the Ohio Valley and the Mid Atlantic.

This setup reminded me of 2/6/93 quite a bit, that boundary came in more from the north and was slower moving so it was a 6-8 hour duration event but the accumulations may be close in many areas and neither was forecast well.

Thanks Dsnowx53.

Great image of the jet streat. In the end, there were two periods where the visibility fell to 1/4 mile or a little less. The finally tally wound up close to 2".

The Park likely used a 10:1 ratio and estimated the snowfall. All other locations (EWR, LGA, JFK, BDR, and ISP) had ratios > 10:1

Yup, there was one person there it seemed the past 2 winters we were jokingly calling "The Converter" because they had several events where they clearly reported a dead 10 to 1 equivalent on the QPF

The area airports reported very little precip.

JFK only .03"

LGA only .06"

NYC only .07"

If they convert to 10 to 1, it would be a joke. But I wouldn't be surprised.
