dendrite
looks like that band is trying to nudge west again. You're going to have to get yourself centered under it since winds have gone NWrly and there's drift under the beam. mahk_webstah
I don't know how you have 15". It has to be differences in measuring locations or something. I can't even find a 15" drift...nevermind an avg of 15" in the yard. The actual snow depth isn't even 15". This one is going to leave a permanent weather scar...whatever that means. lol I remember this morning you posted an observation of light snow. At that time I was moderate at least. Another time I said my vis was 1/4 mile and you asked if I had a way to measure visibility. I had just walked down the road and visibility was really low and it was snowing hard. We had decent moderate snow most of the morning and it was good snow growth and very fluffy. I think between 8 and 2 I had a good deal more snow than you. On the radar there was a little tail of heavier snow kissing the north border of Merrimack and I think that is what got me. Around 1:30 or so the whole band back up and we all got into it. It is the only explanation I can think of. I guess I got lucky. I know it seems odd...I have about 18 on the ground now across the yard in different places. I had less than 6 before the storm started. So with settling of this fluff it seems that I would've gotten at least 14?
mahk_webstah
I think the last band might make a run at us. Looks like northern part of it wasnt to pivot around a bit before disappearing to the SE. Let's see...

mreaves
This is actually turning into an ok event here. Snow picked back up around 5:30-6:00 and came down at a good clip for a couple of hours. I don't ever trust the radar over here so I didn't look to see what sort of band was coming but it has pushed us towards 6", in fact I just came in from snow blowing and it's starting to pick up again. powderfreak
2.2" will do it at home it looks like for this one. Now time for some clipper love which seems to be more reliable than most coastal storms, haha. Honestly can't really tell how much has fallen at the mountain, its 0-8". The snow boards actually got blown clean last night after 2-2.5" through 4pm. The wind has been ferocious. Its all wavy and drifted as there isn't an undisturbed area of snow on the mountain it seems. We'll call it 2-3" because I can't prove anything more. Even in the woods its drifted behind every little tree and twig it can find.

Yeah there's a wide variety of reports out there, probably due to the narrow banding we saw. I put my 2.2" in there, and its between 2" in North Underhill on the otherside of Mansfield (so its not an upslope/downslope thing), and 2" over near Cabot. And up north... 2" closer to Jay Peak, but some higher totals of 6-10" off to the east. But still highly variable from one location to the next it seems. powderfreak
SB reported 6" base and summit. Oh they updated. They had 2-2-4" on the 6:30am report and the report that went to Ski Vermont and SnoCountry. That's an interesting increase in the base area as the snow reporter had to have physically measured that somewhere and then decided he was 4" off. Lava Rock
I think 7"? They did say it was very windy so look for highly variable amounts. A friend texted me 0-10". Being as far north as they are relative to all other VT ski areas and yet they still reported the most for this storm? Not saying they didn't get that amount, but seems like they always report more than anyone, regardless if they truly got what they report. Sugarloaf got 8", while Sunday River reported 18". Had some real nice wind yesterday and pretty good drifting even with only a few inches. Indeed, on to the clipper. Wow. I guess I was under a band that was pretty narrow. I measured 6.5" I'm not a really accurate observer like most here and will generally under report if I think there is anything that feels fishy with what I come up with. I'm pretty confidant with what I measured for yesterday. I'll check again when I get home. I did hear Roger Hill on WDEV say that he had heard a report of 8" from Barre but that he thought it was a bad measurement.
ApacheTrout
2.5" here. The snow is extremely fine. I should figure out how to photograph snow, as we've had some wonderful variety in flake size and shape this year. Sunday morning, we had a burst of snow that spit out what looked for all the world like dippin' dots. December's big storm threw down 2-inch saucers that all but laughed as they pulled down trees. It's been fun.

powderfreak
Haha a 42" amount on CoCoRAHS? That seems excessive. I'd love to see the GYX area snowfall mapped...there are some big swings there. Like how the heck did North Conway only get 7"? I see Bethel had 10-12". Looks like ski country got some snow but not a ton by their standards for nor'easters. They may have measured where the plow truck piles snow.
