I have been saying that I think the end of this month is when we really start rolling, and the period between 1/20 and 1/31 just seems special when it comes to snow around here. The pattern looks great headed into the end of the month, and we could be having some fun next weekend. Right on time. Folks, it's time to drop the hammer and bring the BOOM!

Well what ever happens, (or doesn't happen) looks like NE NC is the place to be.

Can't help but notice the western upstate screw job, AGAIN, on EVERY ONE of these maps, EVERY STINKIN' TIME, FOREVER and EVER, till the END of TIME, NO MATTER WHAT, can't buy A MEASLEY FLAKE, SNOW refuses to enter PICKENS and OCONEE, wouldn't snow if it was 50 BELOW ZERO, with a 900 MILLIBAR LOW directly overhead with PRECIP RATES of 10 inches per hour ZONE!!!

I HATE LIVING IN WESTERN UPSTATE!!! :axe:  :baby:   :weep:  :fever::gun_bandana::sun::devilsmiley::angry::cliff:

Ok, now I feel a little better.... take a deep breath.... whew... I can make it...

We get screwed a lot in the central piedmont too. Basically, if you don't live in the mountains and near foothills or the coastal plain, you're gonna get screwed.

Anyone seeing any flakes from the precip moving through the Triangle?

Most have been saying that.

Ok, so who would take this for the first half of Jan:

- 3.5 degrees for first half of month

Highest temp of just 61 all month

Lowest reading of 9

Highest reading over last 9 day stretch is 48

2.77 inch of precipitation

I would sign up for that any January and like my chances for some wintry precipitation! Well those are the numbers at GSP for first half. Only problem... not a single flake or ice pellet to show for it. " Inconceivable"!

Stats per NOAA

That's the crazy part about all of this. The below average temps with normal to above normal precip winter forecasts haven't really been all that far off, especially in January. It's just that things haven't worked out so well.

I believe between the 1/20-3/1 there will be a winter storm somewhere in the United States. Its just something special about this time frame that a lot of winter storms happen for some reason even though we are close as ever to the sun.

I believe 6-12" will fall in Waycross on January 17, 2061.  The LORDS model shows a cutter to the Canadian Archipelago, but it usually is biased towards wrapping up storms at 45+ year leads.

:lmao: :lmao: .................  I don't wanna wait that long. Does the LORDS model show any snow for me this winter? I know the LORDS ensemble showed a big waycross snowstorm with 12/50 members with 36/50 showing over an inch before the end of winter.

Well, that was somewhat fun while it lasted. On to spring... Squashed to oblivion or all rain for my neck of the woods. Looks like a very typical winter this time = no snow. I will never believe long range forecasting. It just can't be done reliably and never will. Models are only decent through about 72 to 84 hours long range. We need to dial back the funding for anything beyond this.

I am trying to temper my excitement as I have a huge project coming up at the end of January. I rely on truck drivers to do my job and my project is based out of NC. The timing couldn't be worse :(

Hopefully, they won't have any problems driving in the rain.  They just need to use a little extra caution and they should be fine.

What do ya mean? Rain is not negative. We need rain. Just ask Shetley!

He's good on rain now, he just doesn't see any temps below 32 on his 30 day forecast from accuweather! When he gets rain, he has to bi**h about something else! Did you know we had triplets on the SE board? Shetley, snowstorm2011, and max100!?
