Jon
Did Jon's 31 degree guarantee pan out? Per RDU OBS 9 minutes before midnight it hit

Cold Rain
Per RDU OBS 9 minutes before midnight it hit 31 Well done. You, sir, are the man! (even if you don't own an ice scraper!)
Jon
Well done. You, sir, are the man! (even if you don't own an ice scraper!) Too bad we didn't have precip to work with like we were supposed to (from midnight to 7am), the bulk of the precip was modeled by the SREF and others to fall early morning. What a bust....if it had, it would be a different story this morning.

Brick Tamland
Well, I did get to sleep in this morning. I guess that's a plus. I'd give this event a grade of D, though. I don;t know what the models were doing yesterday morning raising the precip so much, and then backing off. Pretty silly to see them do that 12 hours before the event starts and then back off again as it got closer. I guess it's onto the next one. Things already look interesting for the end of next week. Isopycnic
Yep. Brick might have gotten to stay home. So, the GFS = right, NAM = wrong. The JMA was my choice.
FLO
No snow in the near future, good news is tho, no rain either. Next chance of rain I see is the 23rd and highs should be in the 50's-60's so not cold and dry.

Honestly I think that's every single threat we have. The models always seem to raise the precip amounts then back off. The "higher resolution" short term models up the totals and it seems like they never verify. Safe thing to do is take the global models QPF IMO. Snowless in Carrollton
At the end of the day today, we will have completed day 45 of winter meaning we are exactly half way through meteorological winter. What grade would everyone give for winter for the first half ?

Cold Rain
D-. I agree with James. D-. Can't give it an F, because we did have an arctic attack, a very minor zrdrzlmzle event, and some anomalous snow in November. But overall, it's sucked. Brick Tamland
I would not be surprised to have a good snowstorm between 1/20 and 1/31. That time period is special when it comes to snow here.
