Haha!  I had to respond to this, but I didn't want to clutter up the pattern thread:

/grandkids gathered around the fireside

/me in my overstuffed chair with tweed jacket and pipe

/a light cold rain falling outside

"Let me tell you a story, kids.  Way back when I was young, there was this oh-so-special December.  I experienced the highest ever recorded PDO that December.  That was a special winter...

/fade to black

Lol!  That's about what I had in mind. :)

I was making a comment how the past few model cycles has muted the warmup and brought cooler air into the country. Sarcasm does not come across via a keep board easily I guess.

Adding a map,or quoting a previous map provided by someone, to the sarcasm would put it in a proper context. Otherwise, posts like those will be deleted.

For the same reason as the 384 hour GFS...it's one of the few products that goes out that far and it runs all of the time.  Weenie wonderland for some.

CRYING IN A WEENIE WONDERLAND

Models run
Are you listening
In the lane
Rain is glistening
A depressing sight,
We're grumpy tonight
Crying in a weenie wonderland

Gone away, is the bluebird
Here to stay, is a scew bird
He sings a sad song,
As we go along
Crying in a weenie wonderland

In the meadow we can build a met man
And pretend that he's of some renown
He'll say are you happy
We'll say No Man
You'll need a different job
cause you're a clown

Later on
We'll perspire
As we turn down the fire
I am afraid
For the plans that we've made
Crying in a weenie wonderland

Models run
Are you listening
In the lane
Rain is glistening
A depressing sight,
We're grumpy tonight
Crying in a weenie wonderland

Gone away, is the bluebird
Here to stay, is a scew bird
He sings a sad song,
As we go along
Crying in a weenie wonderland

In the meadow we can build a met man
And pretend that he's of some renown
He'll say are you happy
We'll say No Man
You'll need a different job
cause you're a clown

When it Rains
It's not thrilling
Down the gutters, waters spilling
We'll stay inside and pray, make the rain go away
Crying in a weenie wonderland

well, I am on my phone so it's not as easy to post maps. Anyways, are we allowed to post pay maps since that is was I use and compare to previous runs?

SREF sucks anyway...there's always this one huge precip member or one dry as a bone member that throws everything off. I wish that model mean actually made any logical sense. When you have the ARW at 0.64" and the NMM at 0.15" there's a problem. I look at the SREF for timing, precip type changeovers, etc...but that's it...not for precip.

Keeping hope alive!
