buckeyefan1
There was a game tonight? What sport? Who played? Yes there was It was a championship football game and not only was the sec nowhere to be found.......THE Ohio State Buckeyes destroyed the Oregon Ducks. It's a feel good story for the ages as the Buckeyes dug deep with their 2nd and 3rd string quarterbacks to defeat _ichigan State, annihilate Wisconsin, roll over Alabama and roast those Oregon Ducks to become the FIRST UNDISPUTED NATIONAL CHAMPIONS in college playoff history. btw...Ezekiel Elliott with 246 yards breaking another record is just a bonus

mackerel_sky
Media hype train in full effect! All local stations constantly throwing around freezing rain every 5 minutes and there is basically no precip around tonight , and temps never get below 32! Guess they are desperate! wncsnow
That is the irony and perhaps why he posted it. Being plastered in London is quite different than even Charlotte, more than 4 inches of snow there is quite rare due to the nature of their climate. I have been to England 4 times (half of my family lives in the midlands) and in general they get less snowfall than I do.

I'd guess London averages around what Atlanta averages. So I'm sure Charlotte averages a lot more.
packbacker
Did Packbacker get the para and Rgem fixed yet? Nope! This will be a good test for us to see if our luck has changed. Do we get fringed again like last winter, where the Jan 28th event was primarily east of here and the Feb 14th event was big just west of here. My bet is we get fringed again, although some glazing on the tree limbs/deck is not that exciting.

jburns
Well the local media hype is in full swing. FOX8 started their newscast with a remote at the "very active busy Forsyth County DOT staging area" where they are getting ready for the storm. Reporter said that we could see groups of workers meeting and getting ready. While he was saying that the camera did a dramatic zoom in to show.... two guys standing in front of a truck talking. Those two guys were the only humans in sight as the camera panned around to show a row of trucks and a pile of salt. Got to love the south. calculus1
Any implication with this or is this just one of those things where it's nice to say, "I was alive when the PDO hit an all-time record high for December"? Haha! I had to respond to this, but I didn't want to clutter up the pattern thread: /grandkids gathered around the fireside /me in my overstuffed chair with tweed jacket and pipe /a light cold rain falling outside "Let me tell you a story, kids. Way back when I was young, there was this oh-so-special December. I experienced the highest ever recorded PDO that December. That was a special winter... /fade to black
metalicwx366
Predictions for tonight as the event is unfolding and quotes that may be said. "Temperatures are a little colder than originally thought. Its 32.5 when the NAM had me at 32.6 at this time." "There seems to be more precip than was actually modeled. NWS should have went with an ice storm warning!" A packbacker meltdown like always lol. That was so funny last year on January 28th. He got rewarded though later that day. "This is the worst xx I have ever seen or heaviest something." "If only........." "Models always underestimate the CAD, there should have been more winter storm warnings." Cold rain will get cold rain while Brick gets an ice storm. " The high is moving into position faster than expected or vice versa." "Dryslot approaching." "I just heard thunder" "The system was an over performer for my backyard." "The system was an under performer for my backyard."
Isopycnic
Central NC Weather @CentralNC_WX 9m9 minutes ago @RaleighWx On the other hand, could just result in more supercooled rain droplets and enhance ice accrual - tough call. This is the solution that i'm hoping for in your backyard.
