superjames1992
March 2013 was very cold, but a winter failure for NC. The extent of wintry weather here was flurries on March 26th and 27th and some afternoon sleet on April 5th. On the other hand, last March was rockin'!!! EDIT: Turns out it was probably just an optical illusion from a very bright street lamp! Ah well.

Iceagewhereartthou
I saved the surface map from that event. One of the few storms that had a frozen ground before the storm which allowed for higher accumulations. Haven't seen this particular image before, but it is a thing of beauty!! Only negative to that system is that it was a fast mover We had so many more storms that delivered like this in the 80s and up till the Jan 96 storm. Man do I long for some more like those and this one. Perfect High placement and perfect Low placement as well. Amazing how hard it is to get this setup. Jonathan
Man, I miss watching good ol' TWC as a chap. The only website I ever used when my family got our first PC in 1998 was weather.com. 7 day maps in winter ftw. Never cared about weather in the summer, although I was terrified of tornadoes. On an unrelated note, I can finally post on something other than my phone! Purchased a 13.6" Lenovo Yoga 2 2-in-1 (laptop/tablet) from Best Buy last night, and I'm loving it! First time ever on Windows 8, but it's not so bad. I get a free upgrade to Windows 10 when it's released, though.

superjames1992
Look for the NAM to be dry as a bone. We've still got over 50 RAP runs until go time, so we've got plenty of time for things to turn around.

Scooter
Just talked to my dad on the phone. Says he sees flurries in Thomasville... ?? Walked out with the dogs about 5 minutes ago. Mist/Drizzle, roads are wet but no flakes here. It's very light so I guess it could look like snowflakes. Little to warm though I would think. YetAnotherRDUGuy
Impossible given mid-level temps. Well it seemed unlikely I guess. The radar is showing a little something around there, but I noticed that Danville was reporting light rain..

Iceagewhereartthou
Hate to admit it, but after last night, I think Seahawks repeat this year! Sorry, this weekend is looking seasonal and sunny and nothing real exciting for the next 10 days, after drizzlegeddon, of course! Can't remember for sure but I think we said TWC uses GFS for their online forecasts. For Fri through the following Wed they have GSP with highs in the upper 50s everyday with lows in the mid to upper 30s with even a 41 thrown in there. That puts us in the latter third of Jan with NADA on the radar if correct.
