Here's the full list of changes being issued by NOAA, effective January 14th.

Webber,

Thanks. That link suggests some changes to upward longwave radiation flux though I don't see anything about resolution changes or other changes. So, the changes to GEFS perturbed members may not be large.

Well, today is my 50th Birthday grampa.gif  I have been fortunate enough to have lived here all my life and to have seen some incredible weather events.... 1989 Hugo, 1974 super outbreak, 1993 Storm of the century, and the 1985 record cold snap... not to mention many good winter weather events.

I will blow out the candles on my cake tonight, and wish to live long enough to see another Jan 1988 mega snowstorm. Meanwhile, I am content with the possibility of a little freezing rain in the forecast.

Happy birthday, Mr. Wedge. May the wedge be with you.

Clouds thickening as the temps hit 41 this afternoon. Why, oh why, couldn't the clouds have come in at 3:00am when the temps were in the upper teens? It's just sad what mother nature is doing to us, that we would be made to endure such agonizing torture as a we are.

Come mother nature, would that you would impart a moment of kidness, for pity sake, upon your desperate winter weenies! Is one handsome snow too much to beg? Nay, surely you can deliver.

That's an even bigger lol. Come on, folks. Past 240? Srsly.

I know right?!

If you can't find what you want by 240, look harder. That's how you do it in the SE.

Indeed  :P

I'm convinced it won't be until Feb,Mar April (outside of this week) that we have anything to really watch. Models just look straight up bad for winter weather. Something might pop up and surprise us but I'm not holding my breath.

fyp  :P

I say we TRUST what Eric, webber, has been posting.  FEB will be our month and thats IT!

Maybe the indices aren't really that strong as indicators. The details are too complicated to be captured by a numerical index derived from measure pressure in a handful of locations on the Earth. We want indices because they give us quick answers to a complex question. I fear the community makes a mistake by putting so much weight on them.

+100000000000000000   ;)
