I don't get the locking of the thread for the 15th and 16th and put in the medium range thread. We have a couple of threats this coming week. Might just be better to have one thread for the whole week.

Apparently making a thread 3 days out vs 5 days out makes the event more likely to happen.

So what happens when they are less than three days away? Do we make a specific thread with the dates then? This is getting a lot more confusing than necessary. If there is a threat less than 7 days out it should be ok to start a specific thread for it with the dates.

No.  Clear enough?

So what happens to a threat that is in the medium range when it comes to less than 3 days out? Is another thread started for it? If we are going to have these silly nitpicking things about when threads are started then it needs to be in the board rules. It is ridiculous to have a thread for Tuesday and Wednesday this coming week but then lock a thread for Thursday and Friday. Just have one thread for the whole week. Problem solved.

Brick.  I'm losing my patience with you over this. As was posted earlier, we are going to try this for 2 weeks or so and see how it goes.  Deal with it.

It seems like most posters are ok with having specific threads for 5 days out. And if you have a couple of threats in the same week then just one thread for the whole week would be less confusing. I really don't understand what the problem is for having specific threads inside 7 days if there is a chance. What is so bad about that? If it doesn't work out it is not a big deal. I just think the way things are now is confusing. There should be something decided on when threads can be started and part of the rules so everyone knows what the deal is.

And do you know what is in those 5 day out threads? PBP of every model run because there is nothing else to post about at that range. Take a wild guess where that goes now.

I thought that is why threads for certain threats were made in the first place. What happens if it gets inside 3 days? Is another thread made for it?

Yep.  Three days out an event thread is made for an event that might actually happen.  It will help keep things cleaner.  For instance, if next year someone looks back to find a specific event, a search won't pull up 30 SE event threads from a winter when our total was flurries, 10 minutes of sleet and an inch of snow.

:weenie:

Not sure what was so weenie about that post since it is just my opinion on how things work on the board. I thought the problem for whatever reason was having too many threads. So now we are going to have a medium range thread talking about a specific threat and then make another thread if it gets inside 3 days. Just seems to defeat the purpose to me. If the only thing people are talking about is a specific threat then just have a thread for it. What does it hurt? And in the case with this coming week when there are a couple of threats just have one thread for the week. That to me would make things cleaner.
