jburns
Over... 75 miles NORTH. BTW, you will be receiving an award for best long range winter forecast at next year's AMS convention. Congratulations, you nailed it from 5 months out. I'm canceling winter now just so we can get that out of the way.

Snowless in Carrollton
I can't help but look at those snowfall records for Charlotte and notice how long ago they were set. The last part of the 19th century and early part of the 20th century must have been much snowier than these days.

Meanwhile, I listened to the birds and nailed it. Then you followed that up with this. Awesome. Sorry, CR, but I believe you must be looking at the wrong winter. This is the TRUTH: PREPARE FOR THE PARADE OF CUTTERS.

South_MountainWX
My grandmother remembers four inches of snow in early may here sometime in the late 60's. Hope i see an event like that in my lifetime.

DeepSouthSC
Same situation down here. Charleston sets an all time record February high of 87 back in 1989, snow falls across the area says later. 0.9" officially at the airport. I picked up close to 4". I remember that particular storm. We had decent snow here in Columbia. Several years ago, I was able to find details to that storm, but could never find it or anything else about it again. Next winter will be mild and dry. Doubt we have two back to back wet winters. Cold we barely get so go ahead and write that off too.

packbacker
Yep stormy and rainy LOL. Yep, the Op has the AO/EPO raging positive day 5-10, that is a guaranteed snow killer for the SE. Pattern re-shuffles after the 10th, not buying a quick change to a cold pattern, we should waffle between seasonable/cool/wet for rest of Feb. Great pattern for the NE, they should really rack up in Feb.

Snowless in Carrollton
Well folks, it looks like my final destination will be somewhere along the I-70 corridor between Indy and Columbus. I'm thinking that area could see more than 8 inches, which would be by far the most snow I've seen since 1993. Wish me luck. I am a little worried about it being so cold after the storm and not much melting. Are the interstates usually in pretty good condition a couple of days after the storm ? I'm more worried about driving home than anything.
