Snow at 45 degrees and mostly sunny!

That's only something Boston , NYC, or Washington can pull off not us! Who writes those things???

Apparently on TWC, Mike Seidel said that the early estimates are 1.2billions dollars for this storm. One for the record books! Now a top 5 for Boston. They probably were well over that, but the airport always under estimates the total. Someone less than a mile away has 30 inches. Still snowing in Boston.

Glad DT was there to put in his .02 to help rebuild Washington and Phila., lol

This month is pathetic. Looks like we're going to finish below normal in temperatures with not a single flake to show for it. Amazing. That's got to be hard to do...

You just weren't looking hard enough this morning! I saw over 300 flakes of snow!!! :D

Well, it's official:  Google Fiber is coming to Atlanta, Nashville, Charlotte, and RDU.  Grats people!

Sadly they won't be coming north of the city.  I'd guess the population density out here is just too low to support the cost of construction right now.  I hope that changes someday as they continue to add customers.

Worst winter ever.

I suppose officially it's not yet, but I would have to agree this has sucked so far. We've had plenty of fantasy storms with nothing to show. I think what makes it so bad was the positive anticipation for this winter. Even if we do end up with a small 3-5 event there will still be a bitter taste about this year.

Yeah, expectations definitely played a big role. We haven't even gotten a real storm within 3 or 4 days. That is utterly pathetic and ridiculous.

We could always revert back to a few years ago when we had minor snow events during the weekdays for what seemed like months. Kids out of school but nothing to play in but slush and mud. There are worse things than cold and dry. Regardless, I have given up and this weekend will be making all of my spring lawn prep purchases. Its time to get moving!

Totally off post, does anybody remember the old water park / theme park in jersey? (Must be over 35-40) go check out youtube and pull up Action Park from the 80's. Now THAT is good quality fun. Even has a looped water slide!! Kids today just dont understand that most of us adults were dodging death simply having fun back then.

I tried to be positive yesterday but it's really hard when things don't look good for snow, I am essentially lying to myself.  Yeah, we may be slightly below average for temps the next 10 days but we are not in any kind of snowy pattern.   Whoever argues that needs to get there glasses checked.  I know the usual crew will come in here and say, 'why take the 10+ day pattern verbatim', 'we can get snow without blocking', 'it can snow till April here'.  When the blocking didn't develop in Dec I knew we were in trouble but I never thought we would get shutout (<1").

Here is the day 7-12 pattern, yeah it's a "cold/cool" pattern for us but it's not a snowy pattern.  The ++AO and the ++NAO are just killing any snow chances for us, systems will continually track to our NW, like this Sun/Mon deal.  But on the positive side of things this should be a good pattern for the NE with the MA having a fighting chance.

Only 31 more days till March 1st  :sizzle:

I think I just got past the denial stage of this Winter not being good at all.  This wouldn't have been such a bad process to accept the fail if everyone and their mothers and their analogs and their whatever else weren't so blown out of proportion.

From now on we just need to pick the top 3 warmest/snowless analogs for winters.

It's our own fault for believing anyone actually has a clue about long range forecasting. I'm all for trying, and it's fun to read about. But it's little better than throwing darts, unless you have a strong ENSO signal. I do appreciate all the effort and work that goes into them though.

I will say, if it was I would have never have guessed we would get shutout with the a +ENSO/+PDO, below is the +ENSO/+PDO winters, only 2005 was a shutout and that was only because we just missed every which way that year, not because lack of chances.   It's a shame to think what a waste of a good +PDO/+ENSO we had this year.  I really hope the pac flips next year because all the +PDO has done this year is bring us cool/damp all winter.
