If they had not gotten that somewhat flukish band there would have been a a lot of cliff diving already.  It was funny watching all the weenies literally screaming that it proved the nam and euro would be right even though it proved absolutely nothing.  But its pretty amazing it set up where it did to the point that if totals are not as advertised with the main event, it could save some forecasters some grief.  would be worried if I was in new jersey or just west of town. the hrrr has been remarkably consistent in showing the city being the cutoff between the halfs and half nots and frankly that looks like what they trends are.

The latest RGEM is almost a whiff for the city, 2-3". Is this really happening? I feel terrible for them.

That one strong band heading to NYC , is falling apart, lol

No if anything the entire area is becoming uniformly insane in the strength and intensity, most of that is easily 2-3" a hr type stuff wit hthe really dark greens and yellows...... they are about to get into that for hrs on end....run this loop and notice all the yellows breaking out NYC still very much in play for 18-24" especially in the Bronx....they will get crushed

I don't think that is correct looking at the radar.  Some of the bands coming inland could be 2" an hour.

Edit:  That being said I don't think they get the 18" to 20".

If you have radarscope there is a narrow heavy band about 30 miles east of the city, they better hope that makes it to the city. The models have the SLP tracking NNE from here so the westward extent will be limited. The GFS is almost a whiff too, ticked east from previous runs. This will be the greatest coup ever for the euro or a bust. Reminds me of Dec 2000.

Was that December 2000 event the one where RDU was in some sweet spot and got nil?  Major bust by WRAL

Yeah, I've been watching that band on the radar.  I think it's going to get to them.  There is also another heavy band behind it and if that makes it to the city, the totals will start to add up some.  Still not enough to reach the totals that were originally expected.

With this event and pretty much every event someone gets left out on the western edge. I agree I think NYC sees 8-10" overnight to go with there 5" for a great event. I don't know what to think about Philly, 4-6".

All that just makes "storms" down here seem so... boring.  It gets cold.  We get a piddly little band of showers up from the south that drops .25-.5 liquid and get a few inches of snow.  We exult for a week.  LOL.
From a met perspective it's fun to follow..but from a personal perspective, it sucks.

Yeah I think that to myself every time they get a big one and have again several times today. It's like them winning a 250 million dollar jackpot while we flip out over winning a  few bucks or another free ticket on a scratch off.  I can't decide if it's funny, sad, pathetic, or just weird. Maybe all of the above? :arrowhead:[/quoteo]

Yep. Kinda like winning dinner tickets to take your sister to McDonald's while your big brother wins a dinner date with Kate Upton to the Apollo.

I think Philly could be in trouble.  Looking at the radar now I don't see 4-6".
