My best:

The Winter of 1977-78 - living and working as a college grad in South Bend, IN - the average winter (DJF) temperature was 19.7° and the snowfall total was 136.3". This was preceded by the snowiest autumn on record with 30.6" recorded. January was the worst month overall with an amazing month snowfall of 86.1" and observed snow depth of 41" on January 30th.

We "tunneled" out of my house for a week and my road did not get plowed until March; snow melted in May ....

I had the road trip covered......it was the logistics needed to get my Son home from mandatory baseball conditioning on Monday that cost me watching this from Diane's house (in the 3' blizzard warning zone in MASS)   :(   I'm crushed   :(

Pix?

Where he works is at the base of the mountains about a 2 hour train ride from Sapporo; he's got cold and snow where he is but nothing like an hour or two up north from him. He takes the train up to play on his days off; Skypes and emails me but no pics yet of the mountains (called the Japanese Alps for some reason).  He hasn't gone to the festival yet - starts 2/1 - he'll surely dropbox me a million pix once he gets there - I'll send you a PM when he does!

Well I was able to play tennis today in shorts and a tshirt. If we can't get snow let the weekends be like this. Yesterday afternoon wasn't bad either.

I went on a 35 mile bike ride this morning w/ just a single layer on.  Gave me a taste of spring.

Hopefully, somebody will submit a century old snowstorm somewhere in the world that correlates to the current pattern to show it will bring us snow.

I'm sitting here watching TWC for the first time in years.  I'm so jealous of what the NE is going to get.
