We haven't reached our average snowfall since 1989. We have had 2 winter storm warnings in the past 5 years and both were fails.

See, even you guys are worse than Nashville. We all love snow so, lets all remember that (Complainers) next time things dont go your way....Back to your regular programing....lol

Edit:Wasent singling anyone out, just know everyones getting bored with winter...

Well the weekend after this one I'll be shoveling and sleigh riding in a foot+ of snow imby. Great times ahead.

Seriously atleast by the end of this weekend well be able to tell if all that barking from the models has any merit. It will be under 7 days and once this storm is off the ne coast I'm sure the picture will look alot different for better or for worse.

Has me waiting on the 0z GFS.  Can't stay up for the Euro

I'll make the 0z gfs but like you I won't make the Euro.  If it's looking good next week I might stay up.  I haven't stayed up all winter for a euro run.  There has been no need.

If the euro is still poppin' after Sunday like it did at 12z today then I suspect I'll be up late a lot next week.

That was a good read. I believe a lot of posts were deleted though. Now if that was in this board, we would all be on 1300m side(if he was still here). Its not like every model and their ensembles are showing a storm in 10 days. The way this winter has been so far, I'll give it about a 2% chance of a winter storm in 10 days. Probably won't even be showing up on the models after tomorrow.

To be fair the big three all have a day ten storm developing in Texas and all three sets of ensembles support it

Well clearly the 12zEPS control run snow accumulation maps is BS! There is no way that much snow is showing up when 850s ever get below 0c most of the run for GA and thicknesses stay well above 540 for the entire SE.

Edit: ^You do have a good point Cherokee.

 Metal,

Don't forget that the Euro family of clowns assumes all wintry precip. as accumulating snow. Since IP/ZR occur with 850's above 0C, the clown shows "snow accumulation" in some cases with 850's above 0C.

Edited for corrections

Thanks GAWX, I thought the EPS was just a single model. I didn't know it was a family of members. I'm new at this Subscription stuff.

The EPS is the European Ensemble, made up of 50 tweaked members and a 51st member, the control run, which uses the same initialization as the operational Euro, but runs at a lower resolution.

Thus, the EPS mean takes the mean of the 51 members.  The mean snowfall will take the mean of these 51 members.  So, you could theoretically have 50 members give you absolutely nothing and one member give you 51", and end up with an EPS mean snowfall of 1".  Perhaps, in this extreme, unrealistic case it would be better to look at the median.

The 0Z GFS has stupid cold for early Feb. Cold doesn't get that much stupider than what this shows! This is insane cold following the winter storm for many. This run has some wintry precip. all of the way to the coast at CHS and SAV fwiw (entertainment and the record)! If verified, the cold of 1/8/15 and even 1/7/14 would be exceeded for many.

edit: It has an 850 of -23 C at ATL!! That is 2 C colder than any other 850 that I've been able to find going back to 1948! This would more than take care of the whining I'd think. ;)

Metal,

Yes sir! AYS gets some wintry precip. along with St. Simons and Jacksonville (mainly ZR those places). This would be the 2nd wintry precip. event at Jax of the winter!! Of course, this is just for entertainment and for the record.

Yep, absolutely crazy cold! This kind of cold would need to be locked up for the protection of fellow citizens. But again, mainly just for entertainment as of now.

So, who's going to stay up for the drunk Doc now lol?

I'm sorry guys, but I got very little faith for our next storm.

Not sure why anyone had any high hopes anyway. This Friday-Saturday "storm" has been doomed for three days now.

For your area. It wasn't doomed at least for those in high elevation areas until this past morning.
