Spring arrived here today.  If it's not going to snow, weather like today's is the way to go.

I'll agree.....unless it's storming, or cloudy and cool  :P

let's see what the groundhog has to say in about 12 days.

6 more weeks of winter is what he'll say, so we can enjoy more cold rainstorms  :D

A cold rain thread , started by someone from NY, in the SE forum, is there anything wrong with this picture? The runs overnight just really solidified the snow for the mountains, that is all! Give me the Gouda !

I have to disagree, last nights models were improvements for many more than the mtns. Just because your back yard is going to be snow doesn't mean many others want. NE GA, NW SC, and the northern Piedmont, foothills, and Mtns are all fair game right now. This has plenty of time to trend either way and there's no reason why it can't trend colder.

Totally agree there. Wouldnt take much of a shift to put more of the piedmont in the game, too.

There is already a mountains snow thread. But it really doesn't matter though. Its going to be a big rainstorm for a lot so we can post our flooding rains in that thread. It wouldn't take much for folks outside the mountains to get snow.

Airnelson: There are a  plethora of reasons why it won't trend colder but just to start, the low level air is not cold enough to begin with and there is not a replenishing source of cold air nearby. Also, most all models way warm for almost all of the southeast. Unless you are in western TN or Arkansas or north, you can bank on rain.

After this, I bet winter is pretty much done for Atlanta south.

I can tell from reading the boards and how much they change and flip until we get inside 3 days.

Here's a good rule of thumb for you...a freebie of sorts:  Clippers trend north.  So, when you absorb, hear, see, read, etc. someone say that a clipper 5 days away looks awesome for NC to see snow, make plans to head to northern VA.  Forget about models doing badly inside outside upside down of three days.  Clippers trend north.  Live by that rule, and you'll be right 99% of the time.  If you hear someone say a clipper brings snow to Orlando in 5 days, then maybe, just maybe, you'll have a chance of seeing some flakes.

I know, but sometimes they have worked out for us. You'd think the models would get it right once outside 3 days, but it seems that only happens when they show warm and sunny.
