The SE forum does go to **** every winter not sure why anyone is surprised though been that way for years now....oh how I miss the good ole days...... give me severe storms and canes over cold/snow threats any day.

I hope we have something to talk about this year.  It has been a dismal run lately.

I personally think we've peaked already in the mid 2000s for this +AMO cycle, & the AMO looks very dismal at the moment. Our lack of El Ninos of late has also taken its toll on the Atlantic... Once we are well entrenched within the -AMO phase (which won't happen this year or for quite some time to come for that matter), we'll have to be on the lookout for double El Ninos, the following 3 hurricane seasons following multi year El Nino events in cold multidecadal AMO tend to experience a relative & punctuated spike in activity & are abnormally dangerous for the US coast and the Caribbean.

For example, in the last multidecadal +AMO state we observed 2 multi year El Ninos one from 1976-78 & the other in 1986-88, in the following 3 hurricane seasons after each event we observed destructive storms like David & Frederic (1979), Allen (1980), & Hugo (1989), and out of those 6 hurricane seasons in the cold AMO (which is indicative of a decadal suppressor of hurricane activity in general, especially strong (major) hurricanes), we observed 4 category 5 hurricanes in those 6 seasons. Very impressive...

David (1979)

Allen (1980)

Gilbert (1988)

Hugo (1989)

These hurricane seasons I'm referring to (1978, 1979, 1980, 1988, 1989, & 1990) all landed near the top of the list for most hurricane ACE in the last cold multidecadal AMO (1970-1994) w/ the top 3 spots occupied by these hurricane seasons, and half of the top 10...

I see DT in this kid.

Not even close! Has Webber ever said the following to anyone on this forum?

You have no brain!

You are an idiot!

You blow chunks!

You suck moose balls!

Kiss my Arse!

I could go on WRT DT. Webber is not in the same universe. He is a young guy with a ton of knowledge and confidence in his knowledge. I have never heard him hurl insults at others. Question logic behind a post maybe, but never attack. I would not say he is way over his head with anyone on this forum. He brings more to the table than anyone. I have to go back at night and reread many of his posts to understand what he is saying. I have actually learned a great deal from his posts this winter. To try to shut him up for disagreeing with a guy that is new to the forum and claims to have a PHD is an over reach in my opinion.

DT is over 25 years older. Check back with me in 2040.

I didn't try and "shut him up" as you so colorfully put it. I simply expected a more polished presentation. In any case, your opinion doesn't enter into this, because it doesn't concern you.

Back off, and I mean right now. You in way over your head here.

If you did not intend to shut him up, then what do you call it when a mod makes the above post???

You said he was like DT. I strongly believe he is not. Your opinion vs. my opinion. How does that not concern me. You properly moved this to the banter thread earlier. Maybe it should be moved again to a new thread. "Banter opinions that the mods agree with."

Your opinion doesn't matter because you are part of a group of posters that have been members for several years, but have few posts. Of those few posts, even fewer are weather related. They crawl out from under wherever they hide whenever there is a controversy, just to further stir the pot. A simple check of who posted today in this matter provides some good examples of what I am talking about. IMO some have multiple accounts, some are new accounts of previously banned posters. I don't really care, but I'm sure not going to be concerned with their opinion.

Oh, while I am at it let me be a bit specific to you. I said Webber reminds me of DT. I didn't say he was a clone of DT. Your funny list of things DT said was just that. A list of funny things DT said, that have no relationship to what I said previously.

I got this feeling things will start trending more se at 0z with the weekend storm like the trend all season. Maybe enough to get some us especially mountainous areas, maybe more. Of course if its too weak we may still not get enough cold air.

Of course I could be totally wrong LoL.

Superjames, how was 2004-05 a bad winter with all those snow events?! Looked like one hell of a winter with all those events.

1.7" of snow here... less than 20% of average.  RDU was worse at 0.9"... about 15% of average.

Lots of events, but not much to show for it. :)

I'd say on average we get 5-10 snowfalls per season, with quite a few of them being non-accumulating.

This +1000000000.......I know it happens every winter, but this year has been unreal. I've honestly had it with those that do nothing more than state how horrible it is here, before going back into hiding. This place is like home to a lot of us and I'm tired of internet trolls thinking it's some sort of badge of honor to come over here, cause trouble then brag about it someplace else. For those to which these two posts are talking about.......this is the only warning you will get

So let me get this straight. Is there a certain number of posts you have to make here before one's opinion matters to you? Let me be clear and then I will not speak on this again. I have been around this forum for several years. I am Batman. I am only Batman. I have never been anything on this forum other than Batman. I have posted very little for two main reasons.

1.) I am very busy and barely have time to read through posts in a normal day. However, reading the posts of others following the model runs is usually quicker and more informative for me than going to websites and trying to decipher them for myself.

2.) There are many on here (mets and non-mets) that bring much more to the table than I do. I weigh in when I see something pertinent that has not been addressed. But most of the time, the main contributors here do a much better job than I would do. Therefore, I sit back listen and learn as my time allows.

Having said that, I do probably weigh in more often on things that don't require a met degree or extensive experience in following models. If someone says we have blowtorched this winter when my January temps are 3-4 degrees below normal, I will likely weigh in and say not in my backyard. When someone says this has been a terrible winter at 2 pm on a January day and my outside temp is 28, I may feel compelled to remind folks of the winters in the SE where shorts and t-shirt weather was very common. I also feel compelled to weigh in when someone is getting piled on for making a very legitimate post or just voicing their opinion. Who knows, the scenario I just described may be the case of others that are in that "group of posters" as you referenced above. Let me be clear one more time. I don't crawl. I don't hide. And to be honest, when you called out a guy that has probably put more info on this forum than anybody else all winter. When you said you "see DT in this kid". When you said to him "back off and I mean right now you are in way over your head". At that point, your opinion ceased to matter to me.

Oh, and one last thing. The funny little DT quotes I posted were all quotes that I and many others have heard DT say to other people that disagreed with him. I have never heard Webber say anything like that to anyone and doubt I will. The point (if I must spell it out)is that I do not see DT in this kid. He is much more professional.

You should get Alfred to read the board during the day so he can update you at night after you get home from saving Gotham.
