Let me see... how socially awkward were you as a sophomore in college? Or even now?

Feel sorry? He's going to go on and be a well respected meteorologist, while we sit here and just jaw about weather.

Remains to be seen.  IMO not many will respect the guy with his current attitude.  Countless posters have told him to back off a bit and he has changed nothing.  I'm not sure the guy is capable of changing.  If he can't he will continue to self inflict and create problems where there are none.

A little humility would go a long way to making your statement correct.

i see high intelligence in as you say "this kid" i also see great jealousy of him among those that hold power around here and their pals.......and it has been my experience some of the least intelligent folks i have met have "letters" behind their names......and some of the brightest folks i have met have almost no formal education.

I think many are missing the reason for the contentious atmosphere. It has nothing to do with knowledge and everything to do with a lack of tact in the presentation. That's why I compared Webber to DT. I don't think anyone doubts that DT is a talented met. Yet he couldn't function in the mainstream of his profession. Now he runs a website and continues his confrontations on Facebook with anyone who dares to disagree with him.

could it be that some folks are passionate about the weather and come here ONLY for the weather information?  some folks have no desire to be "liked" by folks they never met and are not seeking "friends" among strangers online, just around to share info and learn from others without trying to be "friends" or playing politics......i was told long ago that i needed to bow to some of the folks here or i will never be accepted and my response remains the same, not bowing to anyone and dont care one iota what any of you folks think about me as a person since reality is none of you know anything about me or my life.

sheldon cooper is very socially awkward, indeed most all folks in the top 1% IQ find they dont "fit in" because indeed they are different and MISunderstood by their peers.....rest assured my self worth and confidence are not impacted by the opinions of strangers i try to live my life and allow others to do the same and sit in judgement of nobody.

i know nothing of this DT person and indeed walked away from a TV weekend sports anchor job because of the newsroom politics, so i wont judge him or her for not fitting in on tv........that is sorta my point i dont care "who" posts things i only care about the content they write as the rules here clearly say deal with the content NOT the person and i do see several attacking the "person" and their style rather than their actual content.

Some of us are not strangers and have met in the real world.  Many of us have shared personal stories and experiences over the years and have made "friends" online and offline with the community.

I guess it depends on how you look at this place.  I look at it as a community of like minded individuals.  After all else we are all here for the same reason. I try to fit in the best way I can and do have a few people I call friends and like to interact with.  There are several others I have actually met in person at gtg's.

You certainly don't have to bow to anyone.  That is silly.  Whoever told you that is just flat wrong.

And the whole I don't care what people think about me attitude is all fine and good.  But if you're going to choose to engage others...if you're going to CHOOSE to engage others, then do it with some respect and decorum.  If that's honestly not important to you, then it shouldn't be surprising when people get fired up when you act like a jerk.  And "you" is generic.  Not "you" as in BillT.

and i am happy for those that seek that type contact and see nothing wrong with it, just isnt my cup of tea, live and let live, do unto others as you would have them do unto you, and I nor "the kid" has done anything wrong to any person here nor have we attacked anyone.

CR/RC,

The bolded continues to be a major problem in PR. I've been suggesting more respect/civility there between people with different opinions but it is still sorely lacking imo. People with differing opinions are treated as if they're evil. Therefore, I keep my posting in there limited.

What has been occurring in here isn't even close in comparison.

Yeah, I agree with Iso.  That aint gonna change.  That's swimming with the jellyfish right there.  And yeah, this is nothing like that.

It's all Packbacker's fault.  If he hadn't called +5 a torch... :)

It's not like it matters at all though.  You can call it normal, mean, average, normal average, hot, warm, torch, or chicken wing...it don't matter cause it aint gonna snow at +5.
