Lets hope for some good runs today. This is one of those winters that you just wanna sit back and laugh at how unlucky we've been. I know we live in the south but c'mon, how many good chances do we have to miss on?

well at least some fantasy storm, heck we don't even have that anymore.

It's so nice to have company. I have tried being positive the past week or so and all it's gotten us is another historic MA winter.

It's hard for us to get skunked in any winter but we are this winter.

As much as this winter sucks, I'll give you 20:1 odds, you don't get skunked. This clipper will probly be enough! But I like the enthusiasm of cancelling winter on Jan 20th.!

Fab Feb still incoming! I'm excited about the clipper, it's showing rain for mby, so it will most likely overperform! :)

seems like we've been  saying this all winter that next month will be better.  we're going to be running out of winter months if something doesn't give soon.

This morning, RAH says:

BEYOND SATURDAY...MODELS DEPICT ANOTHER SHORTWAVE DIGGING DEEP INTO THE SOUTHERN US AND POTENTIAL COASTAL LOW. THIS ONE WOULD LIKELY NOT BE AS STRONG AT OUR LATITUDE OR PRODUCE AS MUCH QPF...BUT COULD STILL CREATE SOME PTYPE ISSUES MONDAY. TEMPS WILL REMAIN BELOW NORMAL

It's just so hard to believe the 12 year run we're on here.  Our yearly average snowfall is slowly sinking.  I grew up in Cary and it seemed like every year we had a decent event.  Now we have to get lucky!

We will get skunked, which I would consider anything under 1", which has probably 80% chance of happening.  The winter may piss on my face and give us a 2" crap snow in early March.

Our 10 year running snow total would be 3.6", only the 90's was worse at roughly 3", so we literally repeating what just happened in the 90's.  Our 30 year avg is at an all time low, we are on year 11 of the last time we hit 10" on a season, the previous record was 7 with the average usually about every 3 years, just awful.

We went through something like this, but not as bad in the 40's and 50's and then the 60'-80's were awesome.   They say this crap works in 25-30 year cycles and we are right at 26 years of being pathetic.  So, I guess by 2020 we might see a change for the better.  Until then, head to NoVA the snow capital of the world.

I can't really cancel something that never started for us :-)

I will take that bet, we (RDU) will not see 1"+ of snow this winter.  I think GSO/CLT/PGV will all end up doing fine, just RDU will suck.

It's just amazing.  I started reading the weather forums around 2003 and haven't had much to show for it since.  Maybe it's time to find a new hobby...LOL!

So far it appears to be working out.  I've read all kinds of positive posts this winter about how things are changing for the better.  Well so far I haven't seen it.  I've tried to stay positive and haven't really posted much this winter because I haven't had anything good to say.  Well now all I'm hearing Fab February.  I hear that same thing every year.  If I had a dollar for every time I heard that, I ....

I have zero doubt they will jackpot for the 3rd event in a row in a 2 week period. 09/10 redux

I still think we'll both get some slush event in Fab Feb to "save" winter. Something in the vein of Feb 19, 2012. If we don't, this will be the worst winter in maybe a century or more, which would be hilarious after all the hype in a way.

Yeah, ok, just so we get this straight, you do realize that Washington DC and Baltimore have been well below normal snowfall-wise this year, it's not even close... I seriously doubt you even take the time to look @ these things before spouting garbage like this pack.

I'm not whining, just stating the facts.  The data that pack posted concerning RDU winters recently was not whining either.  It was facts.

I forget you haven't lived through snow droughts before. Let's have this discussion after NoVA scores on three events over the next week or so. I have seen this many times before, I know how this story ends.

It's the banter thread, we are supposed to whine here :-)

If we miss out this weekend, next week into February looks really good right now. Things are setting up nicely for the first of February on the models right now.

Looks like crap for the foreseeable future, no blocking, cold shots, warm, rain...blah blah blah. The only thing that looks good are analogs and you see where that got us.

You never pass up an opportunity to attack me, smh...

That's an attack? Um ok. Well i've never uttered a word to you before until now and i agree with her. I think you are being a bit over sensitive.

This attitude is totally unnecessary. He said nothing wrong.
