CoastalWx
There could be something over SE MA this week with either weak inv trough or simply east winds in Cape Cod Bay vs north winds over SE MA. Sometimes those can drop a sneaky few inches.
dryslot
Relatively meh up there by NNE standards. Yes, I would not go out as far as saying its been stellar, Outside of the 12"+ Nov snow, Its been a nickel and dime theme and we are now starting to slide back to climo or below for this time of year on snow fall, January is usually our biggest snow fall month and looks like we may fall short unless something happens over the next 2 weeks significantly
CoastalWx
Today is a classic meteo 101 day, or maybe model 101. This is why you do not use height anomalies to judge temps this time of year. Those reds you see over us for height anomalies at 500mb translate to temps in the teens to near 20 this aftn. That time of year with shallow cold airmasses. Remember that. jamesnichols89
Yeah Scott, I'm looking out for the inverted trough, GFS doesn't have it, but NAM and the hires models have it all.
JC-CT
Yeah Scott, I'm looking out for the inverted trough, GFS doesn't have it, but NAM and the hires models have it all. Some of the gefs members have had the finger look over the past few days. CoastalWx
accuwx says less snow and above normal nexr two weeks for east.....what model says that?? Well it's possible the next two weeks don't avg way below, it's more after with what most our saying. That said, not sure about that forecast you speak of. CoastalWx
Sunday could be mild everywhere with sun and SW winds. That's gonna border 50 in SE MA and 40s in the interior for sure if the models like the GFS are right.

jamesnichols89
Scott, does the frontal wave come in the same time it cools down in the region? Because that is a very potent shortwave on the GFS coming through the northern CONUS and into the Northeast US?
