Chicago Storm
So just out of curiosity...,what model did the best with this event so far for N.IL and Chicago? I lost track with all of the changes over the last week.Regarding snow? None of them.
Gilbertfly
noticed winds have slightly backed out of the NE here the last hour or so....is this causing the "warm up" in along the LM shoreline in Chi...or is there a little tongue wrapping into the downtown area...looking at meso maybe a little of both? Geos
Great picture Smoof! Wish it looked like that here. A slushy mess here.- Not even worth taking a picture of! lol Hopefully tomorrow it will look more like January should.
Geos
12z EURO showing snow from this point forward. Central MI does quite well. Thinking 5" is pushing it this far west though. I guess it all depends on how quickly the column can cool below freezing later on. Actually probably wise to deduct most of this first wave, since the model was suggesting snow at this point. RCNYILWX
00z NAM supports idea of a 1-2" snowfall for the CHI metro tonight into tomorrow. Looks like we could get another burst of light snow or snow showers around mid day as another vort max/short wave moves across the area. TugHillMatt
3 inches of snow here today. Started off with an inch of grainy-snow this morning, then changed to big fluffy flakes for another two inches. Around 3, we switched over to a mix of everything, and then switched over for a 15 minute period of rain around 6. Now it is sort of drizzly. Roads are awful and will freeze up and be even more of a mess. Winter is here!
Chicago WX
IND torched up to 52˚ today. LAF intra-houred a 40˚. Winter is definitely not here.
