And that says a lot considering how bad the 90's were in this little slice of the universe...

Winter rarely started before the 20th of December in the 1990's... by winter, I mean actual snow and cold. Anything before then was just bonus it seemed.

Now, that doesn't let this one off the hook. This december has been terrible.

Nothing really stands out to me locally, especially in the shadows of such an active 2013.

For me some of the highlights... nothing earth shattering this year.

1. 102 Consecutive days with snow cover breaks the record for YYZ by a huge margin.

2. Feb 5th snowstorm. Dumped 10.6" IMBY, still the biggest storm for my part of the GTA since 2/8/13.

3. March 13th snowstorm. Blizzard conditions and ~7" on the day.

4. Dec 11th snowstorm dumps a surprise 9".

5. June downburst/strong wind event.

Agreed. We had one 6"+ snowfall IIRC, pea size hail twice, and a lot of cold. Nothing particularly stands out locally aside from my brief pin needle funnel same day as the Millbank and Grand Bend tornadoes.

~Jan-Mar 2014. Really what more can be said...I mean I can name specifics (see below) but really...the winter of ages is all that needs to be said lol

~Jan 1-2 snowstorm (foot of snow over 60 hours)

~Jan 5-6 snowstorm (11" snow, -50F wind chills by sunset, coldest air Ive ever felt)

~Jan 27 arctic front (blinding, unexpected whiteout)

~Feb 5 snowstorm (snow depth 20" with 3+ foot drifts in suburbia = orgasm)

~Feb 18 snowstorm brings depth to 21" with 3-4 foot drifts....snowbanks similar to northern UP of MI)

~Mar 1 snowstorm magically whitens the dirty snow and depth is still at 16"

~Feb 27 arctic blast froze snow into a foot deep block (4" water content), I could walk on top of it without sinking at all

~Mar 12 snowstorm..my TV appearance...just a few inches shy of the alltime record

~Apr 15 snowfall (3") breaks Detroits 134-year old season snowfall record at 94.9"

~May 8 - record high on my birthday (87F) brings dormant vegetation to green life in one day

~Amazingly cool July

~August 11 flooding rains...4-5" hit my area, flooding basements (not a favorite, but certainly something Ive never seen before)

~mid-November cold snap and powdery fluffy snow

1.) clipper/squall weekend.....sometime in Jan '14, can't recall dates.    Picked up 10" over the weekend, but ggem was the only model that came close to predicting it.

2.) the disappointment of being warm tongued Jan 5th when everyone else in the subforum was being buried.   Salt in the wound was the fact that it ushered in the coldest temps in years over a barely-dusted ground.

3.) November cold and snow shot....recall driving to an evening appointment in the country, temp read 13 on the dashboard, low visibility with blowing snow across the roads....couldn't believe it was November.

No warm weather or severe stuff stands out this past year.
