jnis
The Jan 1996 HECS had a nice clipper follow right behind it too. That's probably the end of the similarities, except that it's January. But, hey, maybe it's a sign. Wonder what the analogs are showing for this time period? Sorry for the off topic... That was a clipper? I remember getting close to 10 inches from a storm that followed closely behind Jan 6, or was there more than one storm.

Storm you're thinking of was the Friday after the clipper.

kurtstack
After 1996 Blizzard, while Virginia and western Maryland saw only a trace to an inch of snow from the clipper, the District and areas northeast to Baltimore received 4 to 5 inches of fresh snow. Some locations didn't cash in on the 1996 clipper.

WVclimo
I wish I had the internet that year. I didn't get it until fall of 96'. I had it. Took 10-20 minutes to load one panel of the ETA on 14.4 dialup through AOL. Well worth the time in the days leading up to 1/
