Probably.

I can count on one hand, and probably not use two fingers, how many times I've had a min temp lower than LAF. Strange stuff.

Even steven right now...11˚ vs 11˚. May the best thermometer win. :D

Freaky. One half an hour ago LAF was 9. Fifteen minutes ago Frankfort was 5. My thermometer is 4 right now. Strange how we are colder, wedged between IND and LAF.

Already down to 6 here. pc&c low of 1 seems in serious danger (wasn't it like -7 a few days ago?).

We're all lower than LAF right now. Must be back in its warm phase.

But yeah, p&c was something like -7˚ a day or two back. Not sure why they stepped off the gas for tonight/overnight.

can see the frozen fog crystals shimmering under spotlights as they fall to the ground....i know it's not the rarest thing in the world....but that particular aspect i have not witnessed myself many times before...

tough break RC....tricky night with temp trends to say the least

I think we're getting plume effect snow now. Coworker mentioned thick smokestack plumes resulting in an OVC deck when he got to the office, and sure enough, I'm stopped for fast food on my way up rt. 53 through Bolingbrook, and it's a steady -SN. Tiny flakes so no visibility reduction, but it's dusting car tops.

Very interesting....there are certain times during the winter when i can associate particular smells with a developing system (usually longer track upwind smells from ...well i'm not sure what factory). But usually i will smell it hours before onset of snow....i smelled it earlier this evening, but didn't think anything of it as i knew we had no system approaching. Perhaps that is indeed seeding things....i will be sure not to catch any of these flakes with the toungue!

Steady -SN falling late this evening associated with a weak trough. Should pick up about 0.5".

Maple Lake (KMGG) reporting thundersnow, with lightning visible to their southwest at 0515z.

-5 here.  Had been as low as -6.  Lots of fog now here in town.  Can tell the trees are getting caked with ice crystals.

That's strange. I'm curious to know what would cause an automated station to report that.

You guys may have light fog that is turning into flakes. The Bergeron process works best at -15C (5F). Even though you probably don't have small-crystal seeding, from high cirrus clouds, light fog or very low clouds may just be turning into snowflakes. This could be well under the radar (or very low dBz).
