The GGEM was notoriously cold last January for that first deep freeze blast. Was showing almost -30° where the EURO above is showing -20° - -25°. I think generally the immediate area stayed above -20°, with the exception of like Aurora, Burlington, and Rochelle.

Wednesday looks really cold around here.  With 850 mb temps possibly around -26C and what looks like fairly shallow mixing (plus I'm expecting we'll have snow cover), I'm thinking daytime temps will struggle to get to 0 with better than a 50/50 shot of staying below 0.  We might run into the same issue that happened last winter at times though...the ol' midnight high.

Nice video cyclone. You've become quite the photographer.

Still spitting snow here tonight. Was just out and about, and the roads in my part of town are a complete disaster. Total skating rink. I was taking my time, but still locked up the brakes about 4 times. Lousy a** road crews in this town. <_<

And yet you poked fun at me when I said the good thing about not having much snow so far is that it makes driving easier.   :P  Tonight is a picnic compared to what Tuesday morning may be like.

If these bozos in this town realized they didn't have to horde road salt...and actually use it for its intentions...we'd be ok.

Sorry, this should have been in the complaint thread.

Should come over to my side of town, saw the salt trucks out earlier :)

Nice wintery night. Have sheets of snow blowing down the street - looks great out.

Damn rich folk on the westside and their liberal spreading of salt. <_<   :P  :D

But yeah, definitely a nice wintry scene tonight.

Sounds like here. I was out earlier and the roads are a sheet of ice and not a plow/salter to be seen.

You could strap on skates and play pond hockey on my neighborhood streets. Almost.

I was out earlier and only doing 20 and was approaching a red light and tapped the breaks but kept going and thankfully nobody was coming the other way so i made a gradual turn into a burger king. If i stayed on i know i would have went through the light across that road. My heart was pounding a little but didn't phase my 11yr old son at all. lol

Very dangerous out tonight as others have said. Roads a sheet of ice. Its a good thing tonights snow overperformed (0.05" precip, 0.8" snow) because its looking like Ill only see an inch or so now from the clipper (SREFs still way more bullish, but I wont hold my breath). Maybe a few lake squalls will make it here overnight.

Been snowing pretty good for most of the day, picked up several inches, hard to measure because of the wind and the small flake size. Snow depth is probably around 8-10 inches now, hopefully pick up another 8-12" by mid week which should make all winter sport lovers up here happy.

The UP is getting rocked pretty good right now near munising and over towards whitefish point and Paradise.
