Chicago WX
For some reason it's always much colder in that MKE-ORD corridor, and it's always wrong. It's not the only one that does it either. Yeah, it looks odd...and like you said, wrong.
IWXwx
12z Euro 2m min temps for Thursday morning. NE IL/SE WI/NW IN/SW MI ec 120 chicago.png Most of Indiana ec 120 indiana.png Might be thread worthy since we are lacking substantial snow storms. Could call it "Strong Western Canadian High", or you could just call it "Polar Vortex 2015" to appeal to the masses.
Chinook
Should somebody start a new thread for the cold outbreak? Sounds like people are going to talk about the cold and lake effect snow on 1/7-1/8.

Yeah I would probably hedge my bets on -10 to -15, which is closer to surrounding areas on the map.
Geos
The GGEM was notoriously cold last January for that first deep freeze blast. Was showing almost -30° where the EURO above is showing -20° - -25°. I think generally the immediate area stayed above -20°, with the exception of like Aurora, Burlington, and Rochelle. snowstormcanuck
Good time to be heading back to London. At least the potential for some high impact LES after the clipper.

Hoosier
Wednesday looks really cold around here. With 850 mb temps possibly around -26C and what looks like fairly shallow mixing (plus I'm expecting we'll have snow cover), I'm thinking daytime temps will struggle to get to 0 with better than a 50/50 shot of staying below 0. We might run into the same issue that happened last winter at times though...the ol' midnight high.
Chitown Storm
Snowing pretty good here for the last hour. Roads are covered. Wind is blowing. Should be nice around here the next few days.

cyclone77
Seems blindingly bright outside now with the clouds thinning out and all the fresh snow cover. Compared to the bare ground and heavy overcast of the last month it's a big change. Temp has dropped back to 15.
weatherbo
steadier snow is over now. have to estimate 4-5", with the wind hard to tell exactly. snow depth is near a season high around 34". temp down to -

cyclone77
Already down to 4 degrees. May have our first subzero temp of the season before midnight at this rate. Made a little compilation of some of my favorite pics last 6 months or so since the new camera.
Chicago WX
Nice video cyclone. You've become quite the photographer. Still spitting snow here tonight. Was just out and about, and the roads in my part of town are a complete disaster. Total skating rink. I was taking my time, but still locked up the brakes about 4 times. Lousy a** road crews in this town.

Sorry, this should have been in the complaint thread.
blue60007
Should come over to my side of town, saw the salt trucks out earlier Nice wintery night. Have sheets of snow blowing down the street - looks great out.

Chicago WX
Sounds like here. I was out earlier and the roads are a sheet of ice and not a plow/salter to be seen. Harry
You could strap on skates and play pond hockey on my neighborhood streets. Almost. I was out earlier and only doing 20 and was approaching a red light and tapped the breaks but kept going and thankfully nobody was coming the other way so i made a gradual turn into a burger king. If i stayed on i know i would have went through the light across that road. My heart was pounding a little but didn't phase my 11yr old son at all. lol
michsnowfreak
Very dangerous out tonight as others have said. Roads a sheet of ice. Its a good thing tonights snow overperformed (0.05" precip, 0.8" snow) because its looking like Ill only see an inch or so now from the clipper (SREFs still way more bullish, but I wont hold my breath). Maybe a few lake squalls will make it here overnight.
Powerball
There was a 30-something car pile up on the Southfield Freeway here in Detroit (at I-96). It was a result of the skating rinks formerly known as roadways...

It was a result of the skating rinks formerly known as roadways... my mom told me. Moderate snow started at 34F and the temps been plummeting since. Bad recipe for roads
josh_4184
Been snowing pretty good for most of the day, picked up several inches, hard to measure because of the wind and the small flake size. Snow depth is probably around 8-10 inches now, hopefully pick up another 8-12" by mid week which should make all winter sport lovers up here happy. The UP is getting rocked pretty good right now near munising and over towards whitefish point and Paradise.
