weatherbo
fairly mild day with a high of 26 and off and on flurries. took advantage of the warm day to clean my roof for the 2nd time this season. season total here is 126"... some areas west of me are over 175" already. If it isn't going to snow, I'm gonna enjoy the mild weather! my old man Winter tree

Jonger
I'm actually going to be snowmobiling this day. Technically this is Feb though.
Geos
The remainder of the snow here has been kept in place by the mainly cloudy skies the last few days. Made it to freezing today with a lot of clouds, but did have more sun at work in Racine today.
michsnowfreak
Its almost hard to believe, but Detroit "only" needs 5.1" of snow to break into the top 20 snowiest Januarys.
michsnowfreak
Mid-30s and sun fail. DTW had a high of 31F with overcast skies all day and a brief peak of sun. Snow didnt budge (maybe a bit of natural compaction).

Gilbertfly
Just watched a noisy flock of geese head north....they might be just staying local, but still unusual to hear much of them in january locally here. Sparling day today...pretty nice out
TugHillMatt
I guess I shouldn't be too disappointed about being missed to the south. I still have about an 8 inch snowpack. I can't believe our high is going to drop 20 degrees tomorrow with pretty much no new snow to show for it though.
Chitown Storm
40F, filtered sun, and snowpack is gone on the south side (lakeside) of the house. Might go rake some leaves. Nothing like getting a head start on Spring clean up in January.

hawkeye_wx
Overperforming a bit again today with bright sunshine. It's currently 48 degrees. Any snow we do get from the clipper should melt by Thursday, just in time for the big arctic blast.
Geos
Was mostly sunny here, but clouds are streamed in. Seen a lot of birds lately and other wildlife. Far more than I saw last year at this time. Melted off a bit more snow.
daddylonglegs
A+ day here...touched 44F and had sun most of the afternoon. Have never seen so many guys out ice fishing. weatherbo
a chilly 11 this morning, but pretty much normal for this time of year. snowed 2.5" during the night and still coming down. maybe another inch or two. exciting to watch the EC storm unfold in their threads... some are complaining they may only get 12-18". I never will understand east coasters.

I never will understand east coasters. weather weenies always have unrealistic expectations. We see it every year on the boards. ECers complain all winter when it never snows, praying for a cartop dusting, then a noreaster is modeled and suddenly 12-18" is complaint worthy. Midwesterners complain about too many little puppies & not enough big dogs. I can understand being jealous (I know i am) but neither climate is going to change lol. Last winter it seemed like a 6-12" storm was happening every 1-2 weeks. This year most would be happy if we can sneak a 3-6"er in whats been a 2-4"er assembly line.I cant believe how your area gets a couple inches every day lol. I couldn't believe how unimpressive the snow depths are in most of the UP (relatively speaking of course) but its like you are in a real life snow globe. michsnowfreak
Snow has fallen on 20 of 25 days this January at Detroit. I am willing to bet some areas in the Great Lakes have seen snow fall at some point every day this month.

I have on average about 36". There was some freezing rain and then temps of 34 2 days ago so it compacted things some. It's odd here. It will snow this time of year even when snow isn't really forecasted. An inch on most days is pretty common. The past 30 min have been under a pretty heavy band. Just took this, it's is the original 1922 cabin on the back edge of my property.

michsnowfreak
Today marks the start of the 2nd half of the snow season. Climatologically, half of the winter's snow should have fallen, with half yet to come (of course, rarely does the weather follow the rules). Through Jan 25th at Detroit.... 2014-15 to date...17.4" normal to date.....21.3" 2013-14 to date...48.6" Least snow in a snow season thru Jan 25th.....2.6" in 1889-90 (season ended at 15.8", 6th least snowy on record) Most snow in a snow season thru Jan 25th....48.6" in 2013-14 (season ended at 94.9", snowiest on record)
hawkeye_wx
I was expecting our inch of snow to melt today, but thick clouds have kept us below freezing until now. Just west of us the temp is well into the 40s with bright sunshine.
cyclone77
Impressive temp gradient across Iowa. Mid 20s near the MS river, to 50 at Des Moines, to nearly 60 in southwest Iowa.
