Perhaps it stuck in my head from the days when I went through years of newspaper articles on microfilm to get copies of weather/storm stories. That's really saying something this winter! Can tell there was a bit of a marginal warm layer aloft though - with the snowflakes in a granular form for awhile. This is my first MN winter, too, having moved here from the DC area last spring. What a disappointment this winter has been... especially after the last two winters in this neck of the woods. Got to 42 at the MPX office today which is about 4 miles from me as the crow flies. Here in Excelsior we still have a couple inches on the north side of the house and in the woods but the grass is making an appearance on the south side. The southeast flow, especially coming off the snowpack in the Quad Cities area, is really holding down the temp. Of course, sw Iowa is in the 50s and 60s for the umpteenth time this month. Miami, FL was "only" 69F yesterday. Getting some sunbreaking through...34F. Don't need that extreme warmth this time of year...screw the trees up.
