wxeyeNH
Besides the hit to snowmobilers and ski resorts there is no ice in the lakes either. Newfound Lake usually has the shallow bays frozen by now and there is no ice. Gonna be awhile to freeze up these lakes.

Damage In Tolland
Wiz is right about the damaging winds being Christmas day rather than the south winds with the storm.
CT Valley Snowman
Yes the storm really cranks up well into Canada with a strong pressure gradient. Wednesday has more of an inversion look especially in the interior and with the later phasing it probably will stay in the 40s most of the daylight and rises more at night. dryslot
weak sauce Been saying if for the last couple days, GYX is calling for up to 2" of qpf, Far cry from the 3-5" totals
tamarack
From GYX morning discussion: WE START THE PERIOD DURING THE CHRISTMAS HOLIDAY PERIOD AND THEPREVIOUSLY ADVERTISED STORM SYSTEM THAT WILL THE CWA WED INTO THU.MOST OF THE SHORT TO MEDIUM RANGE MODELS HAVE INTRODUCED ANIMPORTANT CHANGE TO THE FORECAST...AND THAT ALLOWS THE FIRST NRNSTREAM 500MB WAVE TO PASS BY WITH OUT MUCH INTERACTION WITH THELARGER SCALE TROUGH...WHICH LINGERS OVER THE GULF STATES UNTILEARLY WED MORNING. THIS WOULD MAKE FOR A LESS IMPRESSIVE SFC LOWTHAT INTENSIFIES LATER AND FURTHER N...WHICH WOULD LIMIT THEDEVELOPMENT OF THE LOW LVL JET...AND THEREFORE BRING DOWNQPF...AND ALSO LOWER THE HTREAT FRO STRONG WINDS. THIS SCENARIO ISSUPPORTED BY THE 00Z EURO AND GFS...AND TO SOME DEGREE THENAM... AOB 2" qpf (with a small portion frozen/freezing at the start) and mid 40s sounds a lot less terrible than 4" and 50s. May the trend continue.
