Baroclinic Zone
Latest BOX disco. .NEAR TERM /UNTIL 6 AM SUNDAY MORNING/...AN INVERTED TROUGH WILL DEVELOP THIS EVENING IN RESPONSE TO ASHORTWAVE MOVING ACROSS SOUTHERN NEW ENGLAND. THIS WILL PROVIDE AFOCUS FOR RAIN/SNOW SHOWERS ACROSS MUCH OF EASTERN MASSACHUSETTSBEGINNING THIS AFTERNOON AND CONTINUING THROUGH TONIGHT. WHILE SNOWSHOWERS MAY REACH INTO WESTERN NEW ENGLAND TONIGHT...A COASTAL FRONTWILL DEVELOP...AIDING IN FOCUSING SHOWERS ALONG THE EAST COAST OFMASSACHUSETTS.SNOW SHOWERS WILL BECOME MORE WIDESPREAD TONIGHT AS THE LOW LEVELSMOISTEN UP A BIT MORE. LOOKS LIKE IT WILL LIKELY BE WARM ENOUGHACROSS THE CAPE AND SOUTHEASTERN PLYMOUTH COUNTY FOR SHOWERS TO BERAIN RATHER THAN SNOW.OVERALL...EXPECTING 1-2 INCHES OF SNOW AT MOST ACROSS EASTERNMASSACHUSETTS AND RHODE ISLAND. THERE ARE SEVERAL POTENTIAL PLACESWHERE LOCALIZED SLIGHTLY HIGHER AMOUNTS /POSSIBLY UP TO 2-4 INCHES/ARE POSSIBLE. LOOKING AT THE HIGH RES MODELS...EITHER ACROSS ESSEXCOUNTY AND CAPE ANN...EASTERN NORFOLK COUNTY INTO NORTHERN PLYMOUTHCOUNTY...OR BOTH. THEN THE HIGHER TERRAIN OF WORCESTER COUNTY ANDPROVIDENCE COUNTY MAY SEE SLIGHTLY HIGHER AMOUNTS GIVEN THE UPSLOPECOMPONENT OF THE WINDS.SOME OF THE HIGH RES MODELS HAVE A DECENT CLIP OF QPF INTO ESSEXCOUNTY...WHILE OTHERS HAVE NOTHING IN THE SAME AREA. FOR NORFOLKAND PLYMOUTH COUNTY...WE MAY SEE A BIT OF OCEAN ENHANCEMENT THATRAISES SNOW AMOUNTS IN THOSE AREAS. DUE TO THE UNCERTAINTY AND THELOCALIZED NATURE OF THE POTENTIAL HIGHER AMOUNTS...AM OPTING NOT TOISSUE A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY. INSTEAD...REISSUED THE SPECIALWEATHER STATEMENT FOR SNOW. ANYONE OUT AND ABOUT THIS EVENING INEASTERN MASSACHUSETTS WILL WANT TO USE CAUTION AS THERE MAY BESLIPPERY PATCHES.

WinterWolf
Ripping dendrites here. Pavement getting covered. Nice Scott...glad you are seeing the snow. We've had just very teeny tiny grains here that dusted the landscape...that's it :-(. Wasnt even expecting that so I guess that's better than nothing. It's darn cold though...30 degrees all day...alot colder than the forecast of mid to upper 30's for today.

CoastalWx
Watching it snow is always so much fun. Congrat's Coastal. In many Decembers it would be laughable, but this one sucks here. Just gotta take what you can get. Now that I'm shopping again, it makes it easier to handle.
