Saw this and thought it was a much higher % than I thought.

That's not a very good map based on my two data points but I guess that is standard fare for "Accu"weather maps. I just moved to the Twin Cities from the DC metro and back in DC climo is more like 10% chance (at best) inside the beltway as opposed to the 25% in that map. From what I understand here in the TC metro, the 75% line pretty much splits the metro from sw to ne but others here probably know better than me.

As for the contest, I say only GB gets a white Christmas and ORD is cloudy and 36.

found this detailed map of white Christmas probs based on climate stations that kept snowfall records for at least 25 years.

Thats an excellent map!

Detroit has a 47.5% probability of a White Christmas since 1892, meaning 58 of the 122 Christmases have had 1"+ snow on the ground at observation time.

Of the remaining 64 Christmases, 27 had a trace of snow on the ground and 37 had completely bare ground. So the probability of having SOME snow on the ground is 69.7%, but the true Courier & Ives seen is just below 50/50.

So I'm guessing this came out to be "No" for all sites. What a bummer.

Would appear so.

6 people voted no across the board - huronicane, Chicago Storm, andyhb, Chitown Storm, Whitelakeroy and Chicago WX but it's really going to come down to 5 since andyhb did not give a response for the tiebreaker.
