phil882
Up to 1.25" here right now... lots of compacting but these are the largest flakes I've seen since I heard and saw thundersnow back in Greenville, SC on March 1st, 2009. SlantStickers Anonymous
Always has been the Flood Capital in SNE, just keeping face. It's the one thing we can reliably jackpot on here. Currently engaged in an ongoing battle to keep the basement from being overtaken.

TalcottWx
Coastal front causing the issues. We had that here earlier, but lasting a bit longer there. It really stuck right around the same area.. It just seemed like temps rose on both sides of the front. Still a ten degree difference from LWM to BOS. Sure does suck. All it takes is once, been there done that. No sump? Happened back in '06 here gutted and sealed wanting to refinish basement ever since. Now doesn't matter. Moving on up, ah, to the south-side still looking for a deluxe in the sky. Flooding everywhere. Local FOX channel just had a snapshot near 93 in Somerville with submerged vehicles. The column must have cooled just below 0C (probably isothermal) and were approaching 2" here so I'm curious what their play is.
phil882
Still huge dendritic flakes here, although perhaps not quite as heavy as before... still firmly under the deformation band. weathafella
So if this is so run of the mill when was the last time we got nearly 3 inches of rain in one day with wind blowing hard all day?
SlantStickers Anonymous
Probably the most entertaining thing I've heard over the scanners tonight, "Peabody 45 to Peabody Control, yeah we got a resident complaining about their neighbor redirecting storm water onto their property"

wxmanmitch
Interesting day around here today. Torrential rains with street flooding in the valleys, but it was a heavy wet, snow bomb with goose feathers puking out of the sky up in the mountains. There was probably about 4" up above 2K in S VT around 4 PM. It wanted to change to snow much of the afternoon here in the valley, but it never did flip; it was just heavy rain with some occasional mangled flakes mixed in. The transition from rain to snow was very dramatic and occurred over the course of only 2 or 3 miles. While I'm disappointed about the end result IMBY, it was a cool storm meteorologically and a great day for a weenie drive.

I wasn't in Florida, but it was dumping in Savoy at 2K, which is a few miles south of there, so it was definitely dumping in Florida too.

SlantStickers Anonymous
Sounds like an emerging Hatfield and McCoy scenario... it wouldn't surprise me, people are nuts. Then again, I got up and went outside at 4 am to examine the finer details of freezing rain, so I guess my sanity is just as questionable. Down to a steady rain now. Cold Miser
Mitch - That is awesome. I miss the days when my parents lived in Williamstown and I had a reason to travel rte 8 or Rte 2 during a snowstorm, especially one like this where rain seems to be winning the day at most locales.
