CAPE
Who doesn't like an early December rainstorm thread? Does it always have to be about the snow? We are all about warm and rain, or cold and rain. Thats what we do(other than Manchester) And it could end up snowing, at least a tad, if you buy the Euro solution. usedtobe
zwyts is going to look like a fool if he gets a 5 minute cartoppper thursday night. It sure would go against what usually happens when you have the 500h low pass to your north. I'm sure not ready to write any article or even Facebook entry about Thursday night. dailylurker
lol @ the pissing and moaning about this thread.I'm loving this trend. What not to like about a big, wet, long lasting rain event in early December? Better then sunny and 55.
usedtobe
Luckily the 500mb low passes to our north, then to our east, then to our south, then to our west, then to our north... LOL, It has bounced around and does stall, maybe I should be more bullish so I'd get more hits.
CAPE
No, but I think at this point (even though climo doesn't favor it really) many folks are looking for frozen or nothing at all. Like Ian, I have no problem expressing my displeasure for cold rain. 55 and sun pls All that said, I like how a number of recent storms have trended wetter. I hope that continues through our prime period. I also like how, even in a crappy pattern, we are getting coastals. Of course if we get our -AO and -NAO with a +PNA in a couple weeks, suppressed lows with snow in in SVA and NC is probably what we will get

I think our odds of accumulation from this are pretty darn low. Odds of a chilly, dreary week are really good.

CAPE
Looks like 3 inches of rain here give or take, after 1.25 inches yesterday. Good thing I have well drained soil. Plenty of rain/snow mix or snow showers mentioned in the forecast as well...but white rain=rain so yeah. WET.

Amped
18z NAM'd, very wet, back end inch for mostly everyone. You can always count on that one 18z NAM run ~48hrs before any event to give you 2 ft of imaginary snow. Catoctins get destroyed on this run. snowfan
Not sure if you all realized it, but we dont need any additional rain in the metro areas. If it isnt cold enough for snow, sunny skies are fine.

WxUSAF
Based on something ORH_Wxman posted back for the pre-Turkey storm, when the NAM shows that sort of precip (2-4"), you can basically divide it by 2. When the NAM shows 1-2", it's usually about 50% too high. When it shows less than 1", it's more or less in the ballpark.

WinterWxLuvr
If the NAM follows the srefs it might get wetter. Srefs are a little colder too. Hard to tell with the limited graphics on ncep.
