JSchwake28
FWIW the 18z GFS is more amplified and brings the low closer to the coast. Is it beginning its trend toward the Euro/CMC? Time will tell. Either way, it's a different setup and will be interesting to see how things develop.

We'll see what the 12z does shortly. Looking like a nice storm. Got any cold air Dr. Who?

hazwoper
Based on the discussion of it closing off I would expect from previous similar systems areas SW of NYC would fair better (meaning us).

RedSky
Doesn't help nail anything down now that the ECM has pushed the storm evolution back 12 hrs. Big Pocono snow this run, storm is going to be fun to follow this weekend.
Harbourton
Retrograding low predicted by the Euro with a blocking 1032 high to the NE has potential if it trends to the east a bit. In any event will be fun to watch.
GD0815
Wraparound snows for the mid atl and we know how that usually works out thats not really wraparound ,CCB ,which can happen. doesn't mean i think the Euro is going to verify as is of course. hazwoper
thats not really wraparound ,CCB ,which can happen. doesn't mean i think the Euro is going to verify as is of course. Exactly. A retrograding closed off low is not the typical "wrap around" snow that never seems to come about. This would (having not seen the EURO myself) be a case where the closed off low would include the CCB and would fill in moisture as it slowly wringed itself of moisture after occlusion. In these cases "wrap around" does occur

famartin
Famartin, you still update the winter storm archive or no? I'm planning on getting to last season's storms this season. It occurred to me last year that I'd rather focus on other things during the off-season and stick to winter... in winter.
famartin
6Z GFS sees the light. Though, it is pretty much all rain along I-95.

SP
6Z GFS sees the light. Though, it is pretty much all rain along I-95. loads of temp issues based on a quick loop review. I never really expected this to deliver frozen accums east of I95. will be interesting to watch this evolve through the weekend. Whenever we have a threat in this time period I reflect back of Dec 92, living on the water, on a small island, along the jersey shore. The sail boat deposited on the GSP north of 114 and standing on the back porch, sheltered from the wind and watching the surge of water come rushing in while 80mph+ winds turned the rain into a wall of water pellets. It was amazing to watch what occurred along the coastal area in about a 15 minute span. Boardwalks flipped a block in and sand everywhere. The back side snows pulled in at the end, even to the coast and power was out for days as we traveled west about 30 minutes to find fuel and food. This storm was the biggest over performer I can recall. BTW I am not comparing this yo current....just reflecting back 22 years.
Mitchell Gaines
Perhaps some onset sleet away from the shore. Dry at the surface and with a nice cold wedge around 925 mb Monday pm. Precip very light though at this time.
