snowlover91
Quick question here, if the low cuts off, how would that impact the track and timing versus it staying open for awhile?
FoothillsNC
the GFS has it closed off at 48 hr, thats a first for it I think (and agrees with Euro). Not as far south though. By 60 hour its closed again in northeast AZ. In my opinion, the closed low should preserve the strength of the system, reducing chance of shearing out later on. bingcrosbyb
Closed ULL should send this GFS run to the southern solutions aka Euro/Canadian.

FoothillsNC
A 1012mb low near Wichita Falls Texas at 75 hours. At 78, a 850 low is forming in southern Kansas, open trough. This looks further south from my recollection of the 12z GFS

superjames1992
Did anyone notice how the NAM shows a 1080mb high way up north? I believe that's our block, not sure how that would impact things but GFS only shows a 1056mb high in the same area so thats a big difference in strength. That would be pretty amazing. I believe the highest pressure ever recorded is a 1085.6mb high pressure which appeared over Mongolia, so 1080mb would be very close to a record, and may be a record for the North American continent. That said, it's the 78 hr NAM, so it has to be taken with a grain of salt. Good to see the GFS trending southward.

FoothillsNC
Still looks to be a step in the right direction. Yeah its a step i the right direction. At 108, low is right over CLT. Almost cold enough much of NC with snow, but I'd rather not have this solution, but we can't choose. The UKMET is a good look, and remaining consistent. Seems like the ever so slight south trend continues, and this is typical GFS catch up.
