keithinala
In 100 years of records, there has never been a White Christmas (>1") in Birmingham. Perhaps it's time for streaks to die. Nor Huntsville. 3/10 of an inch in 1989 is the record for Christmas
Weather Czar
Is that further South than the OP GGEM at that point? Looks about the same to me.
Amos83
at 24 is the GFS a tad more north or just slower? It looks like it is a little more north to me.
chapelhillwx
Is anyone else having trouble reading RaleighWX's disco? I get a server error. I'm sure it's very well thought out and informative, though; that's why I clicked!
beanskip
Not compared to 6z -- its deeper and slower -- same thing at 30 hours vs. 6z at 36. at 24 is the GFS a tad more north or just slower? It looks like it is a little more north to me.

I'm sure it's very well thought out and informative, though; that's why I clicked! Yeah, something happened already to it. He did say this: the models continued to trend south yesterday and overnight and it is now looking like the track will be south of this across central MS/AL/GA into southern SC to Charleston, and then off shore east of Wilmington and Hatteras. This track favors widespread snow across northern AL, MS, GA, TN, upstate SC, much of NC, and then further north as well
Shawn
His article is down. Maybe he is going to edit it after the GFS/updating stuff?
WidreMann
It's not working for me. Not sure how everyone else is reading it. It worked until just a few minutes ago. It's now gone for me too. georgiawx11
Yeah, something happened already to it. He did say this: Hmm, a track across Central GA doesn't sound like a favorable track for North GA. Usually for Atlanta to get snow it needs to track across Northern FL. keithinala
Hmm, a track across Central GA doesn't sound like a favorable track for North GA. Usually for Atlanta to get snow it needs to track across Northern FL. It does in this case as cold air rushes in. You don't want to be too far away from the low or you won't have abundant moisture. Usually for Atlanta to get snow it needs to track across Northern FL. Generally that's true. I guess it depends how much cold air is in place? You don't want to be too far away from the low or you won't have abundant moisture. **************************************** Good point Keith in Alabama. The Cold Air Advection associated with the HP dropping down from the northern plains, due to the PNA ridging that is setting up, in association with the counterclockwise flow from the 50/50 low, bringing down cold NE flow, and damming it against the Appalachians, makes this a little different situation, where you may not have to have the LP track 500 miles to the South. Shawn
Did you think it would have? lol Well, at least wait till the GFS/GGEM/Euro runs instead of putting it out right before they could see the storm on it... ohhhhh I get it! But really, a mention of "uncertainty" would be nice.
